hello,

anybody out there?
it's been 48 hours and i'm still getting 504 gateway error.
Is anybody working on rectifying this problem?

I'm unable to post a single message in last 48 hours and my files are piling up and bursting at the seams.

Plz somebody take initiative and look into this problem. It's not a new issue, this gateway problem has been recurring for quite some time.

thanks,
svinto

This is out of forumstaffers hands and left with the owner, Good Samaritan.
I have however sent a PM yesterday when he was online, reminding him about what he wrote in this post https://www.forumophilia.com/topic80585-15.html#858711 two weeks ago.

Sorry cyborg, but we are all in the same boat.

The server is but one side of the issue. I have just explained my point of view here: https://www.forumophilia.com/topic79332.html. Without a better forum software it is going to be like running "Windows for Workgroup" on a Pentium-5 pc.!!

hello,
anybody out there?

something is terribly wrong with our board and we need some efforts on war footing.

I was unable to post a single link from the past 3 days. everytime, i try - i'm getting 504 gateway time out error.

comeon, mods/owners - we built a very good forum with countless and invaluable efforts from all the members and now it's all going down the gutters, just because we are complacent on updating/upgrading SW and HW.

Have anybody seen my DDF sets thread where i'm posting metart etc. etc.

OMG, some posts were repeated and surprisingly, they were with different time stamps. i.e. i stopped posting when i encountered 504 error, but our board kept on posting the same message again and again at different times like it got it's own AI. How funny it is?

we really need to do something, i knew there are financial constraints, but letting a board go down like this is also painful.

The one able to rectify this is Good Samaritan, the owner, who is the only one who has physical acces to the servers.
To defend the staffers I can only say that I have regularly sent PMs since October 2008 that something has to be done.
When the respons came that there should be new servers I PMd and said that most likely also the software needed to be upgraded and the database needed a thoruogh cleaning.
Since then nothing but silence in respons.

I think our dear Good Samaritan is having hard time trying to figure out which adult webhosting plan he should buy. That is not an easy job, if you ask me! Thousands of offers are available on the net and they all seem to be promising but, unfortunately, there is no guarantee!

A reliable Dedicated Server (or VPS) Hosting that is required for adult sites--which consume huge bandwidth--is quite expensive (sometimes up to $700 or so per month). Shared hosting (as low as $3.5 per month) is far cheaper, of course, but it is not intended for a huge site like forumophilia.

So, you can imagine our Good Samaritan with a calculator in his hand while he's awake and also in his dreams! Mad

Now, because I own 2 different servers and several forums myself (non of them are adult ones) and I also setup and maintain all my sites and forums, completely on my own, I daresay I know where the problem lies. If I were in our dear Good Samaritan's place I would first try software solutions (update the current one, optimize the databases, impose more strict rules on anything that is likely to put an overload on the server, etc., or change the software altogether) and leave the server as my last resort.

More important is that you can't have your cake and eat it! That is, you can't have a huge free forum and still expect it to be running without "504 gateway time-out", or any of the 5xx errors, every now and then. Rolling Eyes
