Forum is very SLOW

this forum is very slow for past several months. I try again and again differen times, nothing changes. I test other forums, they are openin qucikly. in this forum even 1 page cant open for minutes.

I"ve been getting gateway timeout pages about half the time for the past week.

It does get slow from time to time...like now. Sometimes using a different browser helps. For me IE hardly works at all & Firefox helps a lot.

no....i have FF,Opera and IE..Board is slow and me -and as i see dozends of Uploaders too- has massive Gateway Errors and Time Out`s since a few Days...Hope the Problem get solved..

sooooo many people look at porn! be glad you have a slow site rather than no site

runnin a tweaked Firefox3 and wouldn't consider another browser...but y'all have no idea what slow can be unless you had my last connection...thanks to all who make this forum possible,and I'll put up with any problems it has to get the content that is provided here. 502s and 504s have been here for me for three days now

i've been getting the "gatway" error too lately. but i find it only happens when i leave my machine alone for 10-15min. with the forumophilia.com page open.

true guys! altho i deal with it, my biggest issue besides gateway problems is the search function not only is it slow, it is not accurate at all.

It is the site,I don't have this kind of problem with other forums.

I love the site and especially the pics..but
I have to log in repeatedly and if I try to search it comes back with the message that I have tried to search too soon after my previous one - even
when it is my first search of the day

I really love this forum,but the speed is so slow that it really spoils the joy. Could you please admins do something about this?

I believe the more the database of this forum grows bigger and bigger the slower the forum will become. As I see it, the admins of this forum should optimize the mysql databases by deleting all posts with dead links (there must be thousands of them!) and impose more strict rules on posting and replying. For example, it is unnecessary for anyone to quote someone's whole message body with its pic previews--for this not only slows down the browsing but it also adds load on both the bandwidth and the database.
As I also see it, the board itself has to be updated to the latest version of the phpbb forum software. There are also several phpbb hacks that are not implemented here. This one, for example: http://www.phpbbhacks.com/download/8283 (sets the minimum posts required to download attachments) is but one of so many ways to save bandwidth.
The best solution, however, for this great forum is to convert this forum into the far better MyBB forum software http://www.mybboard.net/. I'll be most willing to offer help in every possible way.
