Is there a video editor/joiner that can join segments of videos from teenfuns/angelfuns/myangelfuns/fallenangelfuns/etc... without degradation?

So far... I've tried several video editors/joiners with less-than-stellar results.

While most of the individual files play adequately... joining segments seems to to be a disaster.

Player crashes, missing frames, sound/playback issues... so far... nothing has worked. Some .avi programs don't even recognize the .avi extension of the files.

All the segments seem to have the same properties: audio/video codecs, aspect ratios, size, etc...

Player crashes, missing frames, and strange 'pixelation' seem to be the most common issues.

Any thoughts on what might work would be appreciated.

A workaround is to name the files part1, part2, etc.

Example:

movie part1.avi
movie part2.avi
movie part3.avi

BSPlayer can handle this.

Hi Romulus,

Boilsoft Video Joiner, that's the only program I use for joining files - very user-friendly! Smile

http://www.boilsoft.com/

dead link - 3,56 mb

(If you don't want to use my link, search for it - it's all over internet!)

I'd recommend VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org/). It is free, tiny, comes without annoying installer and works pretty good if the segments are in fact avis and the frame rate, dimensions and codecs of the segments are the same.

Since virtualdub is a very powerful tool, it has tons of features which might confuse the newbie. Here's a short guide:
1. open the first segment
2. Click File > Append AVI segment to append the other segments. If you tick the box a the bottom of the dialog window, VirtualDub tries to automatically append all other segments it can find.
3. Click Video > Direct stream copy
4. Click File > Save as AVI

If that worked, no re-encoding was necessary and the original quality of the video has been preserved.

Thank you all for the suggestions...

I do recognize the names of these programs/tools -

Boilsoft Video Joiner - haven't used this before but will give it a try

Virtual Dub - I used this many years ago... got rid of it although I don't remember why. I will also check this one out again.

While I'm not exactly sure what nudge96 is suggesting... I will say that all the segments are sequentially numbered prior to joining attempts but I suppose I could rename them in addition to that - although I'm not sure if the end result will be different than previous attempts.

Thanks again

Rom

UPDATED: I downloaded Virtual Dub again & tried it... it does seem to be working much better than the others I've tried... ty for the suggestion

I'm saying some video play programs look at the file name.

If the files all have the same name but include partx before the extension they will be played sequentially.

x being the file number.
