How does the search function work? if I enter a word or phrase it pulls up a bunch of topics. If I check the first one and then hit the back button it says "page not found"

Is it my an issue with my browser?

thanks

i had this problem in the beginning too, it helps to be as specific as possible due to the thousands of threads on the forum, try selecting the "search for all terms" bulletin and selecting a specific forum from the drop down menu, if there are still a lot of return threads then try a couple out and if there are multiple pages, at the top right of every thread there is a search in topic box which narrows it down by post most of the time, hope this helps

If you experience this issue with other websites or forums then this is definitely an issue with your browser (cookies settings - security level) but if you are only experiencing this issue with this forum then it's one of many issues related to the free phpbb board (like this one). The "page not found" or "502 Bad Gateway" error messages usually appear when there is a bandwidth load on the server of this forum--the php scripts simply 'go mad' and begin to behave abnormally.
The phpbb search function is far from being accurate in all versions of this board, including the latest one 3.0.x. Putting the "+" sign before the entered words helps reduce the results.
If you need to learn more, just visit this url: http://www.phpbb.com/community/
