Rapidshare Time limit Workaround

Updated workaround

Directions
Rapidshare has been an excellent tool for sharing large files. Over the last few weeks, many people have figured out how to more efficiently use this service. I wanted to document some of these suggestions here. If you have more please let me know.

Rapidshare traces the users IP address to limit each user to a certain amount of downloading per day. To get around this, you need to show the rapidshare server, a different IP address. You can do this one of multiple ways.

1. Request a new IP address from your ISP server.

Here's how to do it in windows:
1. Click Start
2. Click run

3. In the run box type cmd.exe and click OK
4. When the command prompt opens type the following. ENTER after each new line.

ipconfig /flushdns
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
exit

5. Erase your cookies in whatever browser you are using.
6. Try the rapidshare download again.

Frequently you will be assigned a new IP address when this happens. Sometime you will, sometimes you will not. If you are on a fixed IP address, this method will not work. To be honest, I do not know how to do this in linux/unix/etc. If this works for you, you may want to save the above commands into a batch file, and just run it when you need it.

2. Use a proxy with SwitchProxy and Firefox:

1. Download and install Firefox if you have not already
2. Download and install SwitchProxy
3. Google for free proxies
4. When you hit your download limit, clean your cookies and change your proxy

3. Use an anonymous service:

Running your system through the tor network should in theory work; however, it is difficult to use and setup. Plus, you allow others to run their evil deeds through your system as well by using this system. Anonymizer 2005 is inexpensive, easy to use, but not free. Other pay services would likely work as well.

4. You can use a bookmarklet to stop your wait times:

1. Download the bookmarklet from Here http://kostas.yoink.com/past/2005/04/05/rapidshare_zero_waiting_time_bookmarklet/

2. Drag the bookmarklet to your links menu or favorites menu
3. When the counter appears in rapidshare, just click the bookmarklet

Deleting cookies no longer works. Rapidshare now monitors
and logs your IP making it a bit harder than simply
deleting your cookies. Here's a couple, 100% working, tips
to make Rapidshare your bitch! (Really, it IS a great
place to upload and download, very fast, reliable.)

(Only works if you are not using a Router)
1. Download any Rapidshare.de file.
2. Goto 'Run' from your Start menu. Type 'ipconfig
/release'. Wait 2 minutes. Then type 'ipconfig /renew'
(Your ISP has now allotted you a new DNS/IP and will
continue to due so if your connection dies. This works for
both dial-up users AND DSL/Cable users.)
3.Delete Rapidshare.de cookies in all folders.
4. Download any Rapidshare.de file.
5. Continue steps 1-4.

OR

1: Surf to Rapidshare.de and download specified file with
a proxy.
2. Delete rapidshare.de cookies in all folders.
3. Surf to Rapidshare.de and download specified file with
a NEW proxy.
4. Delete rapidshare.de cookies in all folders.
5. Repeat steps 1-4.

MM - This was a huge help for me. Suggestion: Would you consider posting this in the Video section to help everyone out? If you already have, then my apologies. But that section seems to have the most trouble with rapidshare limitations. Just a thought.

It's cool, but it doesn't help to avoid the 1 hour restriction, not even the 45 seconds wait, but it helps me to be more organized. Cool

Here is what you will have to do to make it work:

1. Disable Javascript in your browser
2. Select a file to download, a message appears: ERROR: Please enable JavaScript.
3. View the source of the page
4. Look for this part .innerHTML = unescape(’ followed by hex url code
5. Copy it to the decode part of the program and decode the url (From Hex)
6. Then just paste the decode url into the browser this will bypass the time restriction and also handy for multi part files

Get the program here and tons of free info plus a tutorial

I don't think you'll get a cookie cleaning by disonnecting and reconnecting, since they are files in the hard drive, disonnecting and reconnecting from the net does not erases them, well at least for what I know.

Of course not.
But disconnecting from your ISP will change your IP.

Above was written, that rapidshare doesn't care bout cookies anymore, that's the reason I added "And maybe clean your cookies". Wink
