why certain Email address is banned

Why are emails from gmail banned?

I myself have no knowledge, marcnom. but I assume that someone else who has more knowledge on the subject will see your post and provide you with a more proper reply.

That someone else must be me.
gmail is not banned as a host for registration.
Only certain patterns that empirically has been proven to be used by spammers and phishers.
By doing this consequently have I been able to reduce the number of phony registrations with 90% in the past two weeks.

In fact I found this message thrue my checking of new members.

i tried ten very different gmail accounts.

all of them were banned.

It would have been nice to know this. All the FAQs have to say is to contact the moderators, which cannot be done if you can't register. Circular logic. It just wastes everyone's time. Good thing I found this obscure thread, or I never would have continued trying to sign up at all.

My Gmail was banned from this site and I've had it since Gmail went up runing SO many years ago.
Strange, but I made myself a new e-mail. Piece of cake.

I couldn't register with my Gmail account either. I had to sign up with a Hotmail address.

I have a forum myself and when I was using phpBB2 I had a great problem with spammers too but after updating to phpBB3, which I've had for over a year now (I began with a beta version), I'd say I've seen less than five spam accounts/posts. This after the 30 - 50 a week I was finding with phpBB2.
