In answer to your inquiry, they are only private in that regular members can not read them. The mods can and do read them to enforce the forum rules, so don't think you can sneak anything past them by PMing it instead of posting it.

The mods know all and see all. There are times when I am hesitant to unzip my pants because I worry they might be watching... Laughing

But then I just put on my aluminum foil helmet and the voices go away. Wink

Correction on who can read PMs.
Moderators can't, administrators can.
Currently there are four admins appointed including Good Samaritan, the site owner.

It has to be this way or else every forum out there would be subject to massive PM spam abuse (or worse)...

Better use PGP for your PMs Laughing

Right, a PM is private in that it is not posted to the public forum. Other than that it is treated like any other post made on our server.

So PM's are not so"Private".OK i got the message. But in this case why don't you cancel the option "PM" if someone else can spy on our messages?Call it whatever else but not "Private message".

Look! Private Messages are private in that other members can't see! . Of course they are monitored to ensure no rules are breached ! Big Deal!

If you have something to say that breaks our rules then don't say it! Please don't bitch on about not being allowed to break the rules!

But even if we don't break the rules on our PM's you read them the same.Right? That's not privacy anymore. This is the point.Anyway i think when you posted the rules you should have wrote that PM are monitored by the admins.

First I don't believe the Admins read ALL the pm's, appears like a really big task for 4 people.

But if you read between the lines (rule 2) your point about monitoring is somehow covered. Cause what happens if you have a rule and you don't have the means to enforce it. Yes, it gets broken immediately, so you should tell also how you would handle it when it would be your responsibility. You can't trust people especially in this thing, just from my own experience I would guess at least one fourth of the requests in my pm box were breaks of rule 2.

All this talk reminds me of people driving on a street with a speed limit. Generally police trusts you to drive with just the allowed speed, but always you have a few who drive much faster. So from time they will (and must) check for our all safety. So who's to blame, the people who drive too fast or the ones that have to check?

As a solution you can use your own email, for example, for rule breaking requests and then its been completly your responsibility what you ask in there!

IMO Privacy is Privacy.Point

And im not complaining about the warning i got.I only don't like when someone (whoever he is) reads my PM.This is a violation of privacy. After all it's just a thought that all this has to do with my deleted files on a specific thread that i tried to upload several times with no lucky.Someone here for his own reasons don't like these files posted in this forum.

No. Private isn't private, it only means "NOT PUBLIC". And pms aren't public. Point.

As said before, someone has to monitor the pm (which also means personal message) to ensure that there isn't any rule violation.

This is a violation of privacy.

You should have read the rules at the time when you become a member here.
If you don't like it, how the admins handle with your pms, you are at liberty to go to another board (but I doubt that they don't do the same).
And a board isn't a democratic state.

And no, none of the admins is responsible for deleted files as long as they don't violate any rule.
This is an open board, so everybody, even non-members can visit it (even webmasters of paysite are members here) and it's more likely someone of them reported your files.

The important thing to realize is that all posts - public and private - reside on the server and must be subject to review for rule violations. Posting illegal content, for example.
