Has anyone had their RS (rapidhshare) or other like Megaupload account deleted/banned for excessive uploading/sharing?

Hi.

If that's the right spelling rapidhshare then your account was possibly phished and you've got an email by the phishers to prevent you from login again.

It's possible that RS and MU ban/delete an account for violation of their rules, but I've also seen RS accounts with nearly 500 GB of uploads.

Sorry, typo. No my rs account didnt get deleted or banned. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced this scenario with these companies. As I use rs for other things rather than uploads only.

Haven't heard anything that an account was deleted, because of heavy use of hosting pr0n.
Even though it is possible Sad

I heard about someone who did. No refund, no warning, just gone. Apparently he was posting huge ammounts - like 50 sets from MPL in one post, and he was doing that a lot.

If they started banning people for uploading copyrighted content, they would have no business left. Seriously. At least 90-95% of their server space is pirated movies, music and porn. Since their revenue is based on advertising income, and is thus completely subject to traffic, they would be putting themelves out of business.

Legally they have to say all the right things, and occasionally they probably have to give a few scalps to the MPAA or RIAA as a symbol of their 'efforts.' But unless you are a flagrant, high profile poster of lots of protected content (as in the account above), I can't imagine you have much to worry about. And even if you were, all you would need to do to insulate yourself would be to open multiple RS accounts and spread your uploads around.

I heard from one poster that his account was closed, but he had about 200 or 300 files mostly from one site which get reported again and again and so maybe the site owners **** the pressure to rs. But's thats the only case i "heard" of and it's been a while since.
I have now about 10 files a week blocked by rs. So i'm trying to keep an eye on my uploads, means that i check them with rs-linkchecker to see if any files are blocked (put your links in a excel-file to manage them). It might be a bit naive but i like to believe that if i delete my files by myself (after being blocked) before rs deletes them, they won't mind Wink

But as said above, rs depends on porn-uploaders, so i think you and i have nothing to fear.
