I just thought it a good idea to warn all users of Windows Vista, that there is trouble ahead when you install the Service Pack 1 (SP1).

I just wrecked my other computer after installing it, and now it won't boot anymore. Evil or Very Mad (after this happened I did a little net search and found out, that this trouble is already 4-5 months old!!) Thank God, my 'porn' computer has XP. Wink

The error message has following content:

ntoskrnl.exe (damaged and/or not found)

0x0000098

If there is a good soul with an easy solution, he will be most welcome!

Its a solution for XP but it might work for Vista as well. Good luck!!

Or better yet, use a system running XP or Linux.
Even MAC OS might be better than Vista...

Thanks for the replies (especially for the 'luck' by Esteban), finally the repair function on the Vista DVD did the trick (after repeating the repair 2 times!!). I don't know if the system will run stable now, but at least I could save all data on that machine. Very Happy

I'm so glad that my 'porn' computer is running with XP. Laughing Never had any problems with that system so far.

I just want to repeat my warning to all Vista users, be aware that you can run easily into trouble with that SP1 update Exclamation
