bitmap to jpeg

I have numerous pics in bitmap category and am unable to post them here. Is there an easy, simple way to convert them to jpeg? Thanks for any help.

yes open them in whatever programme you use then right click, save as, and change the format to jpg

Get Irfanview http://www.irfanview.com/ the free graphics viewer, converter, screen capture utility and much more. It can do batch conversions of files too.

I tried to just rename my pics but then my computer wont open them again.. I am running Windows XP and have not been able to figure out how to fix it..

Renaming a file doesn't change its binary format. Windows uses the 3-character file extension to determine what graphic filter to use to read the file. Think of it as telling somebody to eat a steak through a straw. You are **** them to use the wrong tool.

Files must be converted from one format to another and Irfanview is one of the best and extremely free.

If you are on XP just open them with the paint.exe and choose file, save as... and change the type to jpg.

Using Paint to Save As will work one at a time, but it's very tedious with a full directory. The batch feature of Irfanview is very useful.
