Thank you, Muhkuh, for your kind words toward the staff even though you lost a lot of work when your thread went up in smoke.

Good Samaritan is the sole owner and operator of this site and GS is the only person who is legally entitled to make backups of his site. And I dont think he has a backup copy.

To those whose thread has disappeared, I apologise on behalf of the entire staff. I certainly understand your anger and your uncertainty regarding a similar eventuation in future.

Fortunately, I discovered an option in the HTTP Control Panel that should allow svinto and I to download the entire database in future and then upload the database in any future RESTORE operation if and when this forum`s files ever get corrupted again. So I would reiterate that I do regret you lost your threads and it is my hope that if it occurs in future such a major meltdown can be immediately remedied.

Thanks for the info all MODs and Admins nice to know what's going on when something like this happens. I found out from a couple of e-mail replies of threads I watch for updates(including Shadowman's Misc too bad it's gone now ) I was getting some great stuff from a thread but I can't remember the name of it(really new poster) cruxler or something like that. I already deleted the e-mail or I could pinpoint the last update for you.

Where did the F-T-V Video and Pic thread go? I don't recall the poster's name, but the posts were current stuff. The thread contained pic and vid sets and some of the graphics used on the f-t-v web site. See below. The lay out of each post was very meticulous. Also, in his signature area, he had links, perhaps 10-15, to r@pidsh@re folders for all his uploads similar to the following:

F.T.V: A-C
F.T.V: C-F
F.T.V: G-I
etc.

The folders were stuffed full of material!!!

(Not the original lost threads, I'm sure, but at least for the future...)

Here's my 'Roubles' worth...

Last month I lost 3 threads...one of Ariel Rebel and two of Kristina Fey. At that point in time, I did not have 300 posts, so no VIP access. However, I did bookmark the threads, and even though they did not show up using the search function, when I hit the bookmark, I was told that I wasn't allowed access.

Since then, I have VIP access, and found out that two of the threads had been moved to the VIP section. Likewise, a number of other threads had also been moved.

I asked a number of mods if they knew who had moved the threads and why, but no-one could tell me (On other boards, there is a mod section where the mods and admins discuss forum-related affairs. Usually if a thread is moved or deleted, or a member banned etc then there will be a message in that section. That is how it works on other boards).

None of 'my' threads were lost due to a 'database crash'.

May I suggest that the admins and mods adopt a policy to inform the starter or main contributor when an active thread is moved or simply deleted? A simple pm is all that it takes. Like "we have recieved some complaints. Sorry, your thread has been moved to VIP / deleted"

Bearing in mind the time it takes to make and update the threads, I think it is the least that could be done.
