Rapidshare is kind of dead - for free users...

OK, you all noticed that

RAPIDSHARE has LIMITED SPEED for free users to 62KB/sec.

That basically means, a 100MB-file takes a bit more than 30 minutes to download. By the way, my internet connection could handle 20 times the speed of rapidshare.

Therefore, downloading big amounts (vidz with 3 parts or more) does not make much sense from snakeshare aka "rapid"...

Of course, you rapidshare premium user might say: don't complain, it's free, or otherwise buy an account. RS premium users will of course do everything to convice other people from rapidshare, because they profit from downloads / uploads at RS.

On the other hand, why should I buy an account?

1. If I wanted to spend money for porn, I would rather buy an account at my favourite porn site and pay the people who do the work rather than other people you just make profit from people stealing stuff.

2. Is snake... ehem rapidshare the only hoster? No. Try netload.in for example. It gives me - as a free user - more than 1MB/sec. It may not be as reliable as RS, but it is still much faster even taking into account some downtimes.

Rapidshare is by far the SLOWEST of all 1-click-hosters I know at the moment. At least they should change their name - until then, I won't download or upload anything there.

You should buy RS because:

1: Supports direct downloads, so you don't have to get redirected 15 times before you get to the file.

2: No wait time

3: Light homepage without alot of fancy graphics

4: No bloaty adcrap

5: Not a lot of needless features

I think they recognized that a lot of free users with a little knowledge and a provider who gives them a dynamic ip could easily fool them and don't pay anything, but get the same dl speed as the premium members.

And I also think these free users raise a hue and cry cause their trick don't work anymore.

Yes, I'm a premium user, but I was it before their changing. I signed because I want to get rid of stupid riddles about cats and dogs, was annoyed about the waiting time (and yes I have a dynamic ip, and it's really easy to change it), and wanted to dl more than one file every time.
Sure, I get dl points from users who dl my files, but first and foremost I post cause I want to trade stuff what someone else is searching for.

So you think you'll get that huge amount of pron hosted by rs by paying ONE paysite?!?
You should show me that site and I'll sign immediately.

A membership of a paysite cost about 30 bucks per month, and rs only 10.

Netload.in isn't really bad (I dl sometimes from it), but it pays the uploader, so it's banned here.
And I'm pretty sure, if they were as large as rs they would do everything to prevent free users to trick their waiting period.

Nobody forces you to sign or dl anything from rs. But there isn't much left then.

I almost admire their strategy. The built up a great company, they are by far the biggest, fastest, easiest and most reliable 1-click-hoster world-wide. It is a bit like giving drugs to somebody for free for a while, until a certain moment, where suddenly you have to pay for it. I don't really critizize their strategy, it is good from their point of view, but I don't want to take part in that plan

I am a premium member. It took me 55 seconds to download a 3.9MB clip. I averaged around 65kb/sec the first try. The second try was all over the board and was as low as 25 and as high as 120.

I don't use accelerators, or facilitators, or any of that Rapidshare add-on crap.

My speeds are nowhere near the speeds achieved when Rapidshare first converted to their present format.

Rapidshare says it is revamping their system. I think the amount of new traffic exceeded there expectations and overwhelmed their system. .
