Yup...I agree. Wink

CCleaner is the best choice to clear your
registry.
There are also many other programs out there
but you need to be carefull about what you
delete in your registry. If you don't have
that huge knowledge, ccleaner is the best
option to clean it and make your system
a little bit faster.
CCleaner also gives you an option to
make a backup of your registry. If you
do something wrong or delete wrong
entries, you always have a way to 'undo'
your steps in there. Cool

I'm using ccleaner since one year and
never had a problem wit that.

Do you have to disable your anti-virus to use CCleaner? I had a full version of Registry Mechanic, but I couldn't use it cause it wanted me to uninstall my anti-virus.

I don't know which anti-vir program you're using but I doubt
there will be any problems with ccleaner.

Just give it a try. It's free. Smile

You can always uninstall it if you don't like it or
if it will bring you trouble regarding the anti-vir.

I never had any issues with it.

Here are a couple more free reg tools...

..::RegMon::..

Regmon is a Registry monitoring utility that will show you which applications are accessing your Registry, which keys they are accessing, and the Registry data that they are reading and writing - all in real-time. This advanced utility takes you one step beyond what static Registry tools can do, to let you see and understand exactly how programs use the Registry. With static tools you might be able to see what Registry values and keys changed. With Regmon you ll see how the values and keys changed.

DOWNLOAD

..:: ERUNT::..

ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) allows you to keep a complete backup of your registry and restore it when needed. The standard registry backup options that come with Windows back up most of the registry but not all of it. ERUNT however creates a complete backup set, including the Security hive and user related sections. ERUNT is easy to use and since it creates a full backup, there are no options or choices other than to select the location of the backup files. The backup set includes a small executable that will launch the registry restore if needed.

I used RegCure. Not freeware, but only cost $20 for a year subscription. Worked well.

I'll also vouch for the Cleaner as mentioned above-although it definitely will not do all that a paid for program will do.

I use CCleaner also but I think it wipes out passwords and some saved information, doesn't it? Maybe there are some settings that I can change that I have not looked at as of yet, it just seems to me after I run it, I have to reinput my Rapidshare info, other passwords, etc. Not that this is a major issue, it is just that I use varied passwords and I forget which one is which.

This is safe and benign - don't remove duplicate files unless you know how to back up

RegSeeker

I have found this to be the most aggresive. Thus you should run
cleaners in an order where each in turn produces fewer entries
for removal.

Tune Up utilities 2009 - google it with "rapidshare" in quotes, watch out there's a German version and an English version.

Best one out there, not only does registry it does enhancement, it does speedup, defrag, changes to operating style and lots more.

11 months running Vista 32 on one beast and Vista 64 on another - NO CRASHES. really.
