Joining video through HJSplit problems - HELP!

1)I'm expiriencing problems in the last two months when I try to join video files through HJ Split 2.3 - it's giving message: invalid floating operation. Can someone offer a solutin or recomend me another FREE program for joining video files?
2)What FREE program do you recomend for turning FLV(Flashvideo) files into AVI or MPEG or WMV formats? I got some nice FLV videos would like to post them here with screenshots - FLV player does not support screen capturing.
