Hi all!
I'm wondering about if it is possible to reencode some videos or scenes from 2d to a vr style 3d view.
I understand that this will no way be as authentic and immersive like czechvr or similar , but maybe worth a try.
Converting 2d to 3d is not a huge problem, there are dozens of applications that can offer this and gives some nice effects in some cases. Years ago I made some good experiences with "Stereoscopic Player" and my Nvidia 3d shutter glasses. Just don't overdo the parallaxes and it is still enjoyable.
But now on a HMD like Oculus Rift / Htc Vive / Gear VR / Cardboard etc. the fov is more like a fisheye perspective and there are many differrent formats etc like 180x180° or 360° or just 120° , or 180x102 .... kinda confusing
Some videos in here seem to be converted from a regular 2d or 3d source, with a post processed fisheye perspective.
Does anyone know how this has been done and what tool will be needed?
Or would you say: Sorry this won't be possible?
