Hi serielh:

I get the same error message on occasion as well. I think if your internet connection is not at full strength (I am wireless), then the attachments take too long to transfer and you get the message. The last time this happened to me I had a poor connection (15%), I don't get the same message when connecting at 60% or above.

Cheers.

On ff the 504 error (time-out) happens at certain times of the day. It is not local connection related, as other sites work fine. My guess is that either the traffic at ff is too heavy, or the forum software is rebooting data. In either case, it's probably a server memory problem.

i suspect the ammount of trafic is created by everybody now trying to post as much as possible to get to the magic 300 posts

Seems this is starting again, mainly around the evening for me. I guess there is more traffic here again.

About 15 minutes ago I started getting 504's and 502's. When clearing my browser's cache didn't help (supposedly it's supposed to), I got into a bit of a frustrated panic thinking I had somehow absorbed some piece of malware that was trying to log my keystrokes and lift other personal info off of my pc and piggyback the data on top of my browsing instructions or something, which must have been what was confusing the forum server.

Anyone who knows what they're doing would probably chuckle at me, but in my ignorance it sounded plausible enough to make me uninstall Firefox, shut down and get on my laptop. Thankfully though a little research indicated that someone at the hosting end just needs to get their act together.

Gateway errors occur apparently because two different servers are spitting out different information, or "do not agree on the protocol for exchanging data. Given that Internet protocols are quite clear, it often means that one or both machines have been incorrectly or incompletely programmed."

Yeah, the thread search function isn't able to handle large (e.g.oldje) threads, it's a software problem.

Sorry, can't do anything.
