Guys,

When i download some of these oldje clips, they come as "rm" files - and play automatically on Real Media Player.

However, this stops me putting them onto DVD - as my DVD burning software (nero) doesnt recognise the files. How can I change the savec files into a format Nero will recognise?

Thanks

Hi I use a software called win avi video converter to change file formats between wmv, mpeg, avi, rm etc. You have to purchase it at about 30 US dollars but it works like a charm. *Edit It's from a company called winavi (do a google for them).

Maybe one of our knowledgeable members will know of a free converter?

I will move this to surfing tips and internet security forum as that's the correct place for this question and you will have a better chance of a worthwhile reply there.

I also use WinAvi. It does the job but its pretty quirky. For example, a .rm or a .rmvb file is supported but a .ram files is not. However, if you just delete the "a" it becomes recognized, also if your AVI or mpeg needs reindexing you have to put it through VLC or BSPlayer first, and watch out if you convert a file to AVI - it once took a 20mb mpg and kicked out a 1.2gb AVI.

I could be wrong but I don't think there's a free converter out there. Just last year svinto posted a request to keep a look out for a RealMedia converter (free or not). WinAvi do allow you to use the converter free for a month but the output video has an annoying watermark in the centre It's perfectly watchable but you wouldn't want to share it.

Actually , the standard WinAvi license is mutiple use - though they do ask that you don't spread it around too much. From that I take that they would encourage passing it along on a word-of-mouth basis but not posting it in a public forum.

If you pm me I'll reply with the unlock code and instructions.
