I shoot mostly sports and motor racing. The most I have ever been paid is $150 per image (motorsports). I use a Canon 30D and 20D camera and I have many L series lenses. But I have always thought about shooting models..nude and nonnude.
How do you guys go about it? Do you just approach potential models on the streets? Or do you place ads somewhere? And how much do you pay these models if anything?
I would have thought that a good place to learn might be from the models themselves. They aren't slabs of meat. Every large town or city has modeling agencies. You might try hiring an experienced girl for a shoot. Be nice and respectful to her and she might be able to give you some advice and contacts. If you've any pride in what you turn out you're also probably going to have to learn the craft. I don't doubt that you're a good photographer but you wouldn't photograph a girl in same way you would a car. Every girl has to be shot differently if you want to get the best out of her. An experienced professional model can help you there as well. Don't come on with any macho bullshit. All of the professional models I've known hate that. Just be nice and open, treat them with respect as professionals and make it clear that you are keen to learn the business.
Just an idea.
