I just had to change my computer so went for a model with Windows Vista. I like the faster speed processor (old one was clogged with crap) but not sure about the file management and preview options.

Any of you getting a good experience with the latest Bill Gates experience? I am not overwhelmed but good news is I had to back up a lot of old files in the transfer and will share some nice pics that emerged in the forums over the coming weeks.

Not yet...They just barely got XP stable enough lol. I want to, but there are so many versions out. Which one did you get? Home Basic?

I beta tested 3 different versions of Vista including Release Candidate 1 which was pretty close to the final. In the beginning, Vista did not like some Gigabyte motherboards in combination with certain video cards. By RC1 it was able to handle most of the combinations that I have in my shop. I am not using it even though I received the "macho" version of it for beta testing and actually sending in some input. Although I don't personally think they liked all of my suggestions or ideas. I might use it in another 5-6 months after they have released a few more updates. I know the Vista machines we have at work have a few issues concerning networking with non windows machines. It sure is not something that I would rush into at the present. Like it was said before me, Windows XP Professional is just now getting to the point that it is pretty much crash proof and it accepts 99.99% of hardware. Just my take on it,

It came with Home premium loaded. There was not a lot of choice in the store as all new computers had Vista. I could have shopped around but needed to get back to Internet access fast.

I totally agree. WinXP has been around for a while, but at the moment its more compatible and stable than Vista. Its just an OS, so I'm not too fussed atm, but a friend went back to XP from Vista after it started causing him problems.

Applications that are now unsupported wont be getting a Vista patch unless its by Microsoft or the fans. No doubt the Vista interface is better tho.
