As best I can tell, there's a quite simple way to substantially improve the forum that would take almost no work.

I'm guessing few members have accounts at all the allowed filehosts. Thus, we spend most of our time on the forum opening threads where we can't really download anything (few files are worth screwing around with free downloads). Well, that's my experience anyway, perhaps others could comment on theirs?

It would greatly assist browsing if threads showed the poster's filehost in the thread title. Like this:

[RG] Horny girls show all!

OR:

[K2S] OMG, horny old men make forum suggestions!! Smile

If two hosts are used, like this:

[RG] [K2S] Girls just wanna have fun!

I hate to put any additional burden on posters, but this idea takes almost no effort, and would seem to be very helpful.

I see a few posters already do this.

Am I missing something here? I probably am! Educate me please.

It also takes very little effort for you to click on a thread, see a host you don't like and mosey on to the next thread, right? Wink

But seriously, most people think it would cut down traffic to their threads - which it will! - thus eliminating any possibility that the person will upgrade to premium using their link. And from my experience, it absolutely would cut down on sales. No doubt about it.

Believe me, I've clicked on many a thread only to groan when I see a K2S link! But in one thread, I have slowly been downloading sets he posts as a free user. If his thread had been labeled [K2S], I wouldn't have bothered checking it out. And then I would have missed out on the sets I've downloaded so far.

Then there is the problem of people using multiple hosts. Some start a thread with host A, then add or switch to host B before eventually settling on host C. So if you list all 3 hosts, assuming there is room, what do you suppose happens when someone clicks on the newest posts expecting to see host B but only finds host C? Trust me, we have more than enough complaints to deal with everyday.

As I began reading felasco's suggestion I thought it was a no-brainer. A really good idea. I've seen this method used on countless other forums.

Then I read JB Wannabe's reply and it brought up many good points that had never crossed my mind. I suppose if the idea is to create more traffic to the threads and to promote more sales, then keeping the host ID's out of the titles is a good idea. You really can learn something new every day.

I hear ya, and I really want this to sound like a suggestion, and NOT a complaint. If posters don't want to do this, ok, no problem, their call.

But the thing is, "moseying on to the next thread" is the primary activity one engages in on a forum like this, unless one signs up for three or four file hosts. As I see it, any forum that included filehost info in thread titles would quickly become the favorite forum for those of us who only use one filehost.

I would actually use more filehosts, but most of them happen to suck. As example, I recently tried to sign up to three different filehosts in one day, and NONE of them could process the order. K2S finally figured out how to take my money, though they have problems too.

Ok, I can see this. You've got a point for sure. But honestly, I'm guessing most viewers do what I do. Open the thread, look immediately for the filehost, and if they don't have it, click the back button. If that's true, to the degree it may be true, all that's accomplished by not labeling threads with filehost info is to annoy users and send them searching for other forums.

Ok, to each their own of course. Personally, I've given up on free downloads. The downloads die in the middle half the time so, for me, just one guy's choice, not worth the bother. I'm sure others will make a different choice.

The thing is, there is SO MUCH porn available everywhere, that's it seems a waste of time to struggle to get a particular file. Again, just my opinion, nothing more.

This is easily solved.

1) When filehost changes, change thread title.

2) Ignore complaints. Hey, let's practice on this one! Smile

Thanks again JB for reviewing my suggestion. I've made my point, and you've heard it, case closed.
