I've got decide if I want to set up cam rooms, shoot videos of exclusive solo models (*cough* strippers), actual hardcore porn, etc. Should be plenty of local talent with all the strippers here in the Tampa Bay area. PoV possibly. Might do some sort of theme like Bang Bros or IntheVIP, but different. Fake upskirts or changing rooms seems played out.

I've seen agencies where you pick your porn star and set something up, but I don't know how they'd feel about going to an upstarting website. I have some pretty good connections with the strip clubs. I might have to use those connections to pull some talent. Anyone know about what these girls get paid to do a hardcore scene? Of course ugly girls get paid less. Got to catch a hot chic who's desperate to make a car/rent payment.

Need a reliable billing company. Also considering hiring someone to do the site, or I could do it myself. Probably some software out there I'd buy if I did it.

If I went with web cams or a studio, I'm guessing I'd have to find someplace where I didn't violate any zoning laws. Some chic had a dungeon set up and a webcam and got in trouble for that around here.
Webcams seems like the easiest. Just set up some rooms and buy a bunch of outfits, a few web cams, open bar for the working girls, etc.

Then there's the advertising. Tons of thumbnail galleries out there. No clue how anyone pics one of those. Can always release some content to the forums and torrent sites for publicity.

I'm thinking about starting a non nude modeling website or maybe nude but no hardcore.

Look for strippers and escorts, my guess is that hiring girls that are already in the internet business would be more expensive.

CCbill or paycom billing are good enough, what matters is the service you hire to protect you from password sharing/brute force, the ones that www.karisweets.com and www.lizvicous.com use seem to be pretty secure.

Software... you'll probably need apache, dreamweaver: if you don't know html/css or nvu if you want to do it yourself, you'll probably need a proxy, a good server with lots of bandwidth. good hardware, and if you go the linux way: a tech savvy that owns at creating ipchains rules. Don't forget software to edit video and pictures.

Maybe you'll need a lawyer too, a hair stylist, makeup stylist, lots of paperwork, lighting equipment if you plan to provide HD videos.

Advertising, be sure to add your girl to every tgp site possible, give away some freebies on forums.

And the most important thing of all, provide high quality and original content.

Good luck

good luck deity. I think the main build from previous comment is be prepared to put a lot of effort into it. So many sites just post a few pics and vids and then can't keep up the workload of updating and the sites die becoming uninteresting. Those that do well seem to have more than one person on the team keeping things going. Just my $0.02

Why don't you just do the production, then contct Bang Brothers down in Miami?

Running a porn site is a big hassle. You will need to do the production, the editing, the digital conversions, maintain a website/server. You must comply with 2257 record keeping requirements or hire someone to do it for you.

You need to promote your site and advertise, that means you have to contract with and pay the thumbnail gallery operators. Luckily they run through a handfull of companies who contract with website owners and then hire the TGP operaotrs. Oops, now you have to have some galleries to give to the TGP'ers.... Don't forget to contact askjolene too...

Then you're finally ready to work with CCBill, etc.

Which is why a lot of guys just buy the copyrights to videos already produced and digital ready, then just promote them and bill for memberships.

Other guys just want to produce the videos and sell them to the guys mentioned above.

Very few do the whole shebang all alone.

I've got 1 buddy who runs some publications that advertise adult business in the area. He also has a web site where he sells sex toys and crap like that. I've got another friend who was a senior financial annalist at a major corporation, but now runs his own completely different business. Every so often, they urge me to look into starting up some sort of Internet porn site. I have 3 or 4 people interested in doing this.

I think it's a lost cause, doesn't porn have like a 1% share of the entire internet? That's pretty damn high.

P.S. Yes it is 1%, I was surprised too, check this out http://www.marketingvox.com/archives/2006/11/17/how_much_porn_online_uncle_sam_knows/.

I don't know if I'll get in trouble for this, but.... You could try LA Direct, they are the largest modeling agency in Porn Vally.

Lots of the girls you see here work through them...

How much do they get paid? Less than you would lose at the crap tables over a weekend in Vegas....

Wow, I guesse that just boosts my statement, seriously there's not a lot of sites that stay up for more than a year, I can't even tell you how many good porn sites went down in a matter of 12 months.

The way I see it is, don't spend any amount you're not willing to lose.

Good luck though.

Part of the problem is people will win a chunck of change in the lottery or inherit a couple of hundred thousand from a crazy uncle an dthen decide they want to go into the porn business because, well because they like porn.

I like Corvettes but I'm not going to try to build one. I'm not qualified nor skilled.

Yet these guys who last month were working at the Jiffy Lube show up in LA thinking they'll just make some porn and the money will start rolling in. So they go out and hire a model and a production crew and production insurance and a post production/editing ccrew and a record keeper and rent a set and end up paying $35,000 to make a single scene. The whole thing could be done very nicely and professionally for $15,000.

Then they have no idea where or how to market the thing they made so they end up trying to pedel it to the major labels who don't want to touch it, so they go to the second an dthird and fourth rate lables who cut them a shitty deal and buy distribution rights for $6000 or $7000 or worse 30% of the net sales. Net being a key term in the contract.

So the poor schmucks end up taking a loss of $30K on every friggin' scene they shoot. Who can stay in business with that kind of math? And yet, some low ranked www distributor ended up with the rights to the video, and they pedel a license to 200 different sites for either a monthly rent or a cut of the memberships, gross with a minimum monthly.

So along comes our wannabe porn site operator, looking for some content to stock his shelves, and ends up renting an internet only distribution license for $1000 per video, maybe $500 if he gets a quantity. So he buys 30 videos for $20K expecting to get an average of 1000 memberships per month at $20 a pop, so his expenses are covered and anything over 1000 schmucks is his profit.

Then along comes svinto and Abraxas and Esteban and one of them pays $20 for a one month membership, then sucks down all 30 videos in one day with their T3 line, cancels their membership, and within 72 hours all 30 videos are sitting on RapiShare in various forms and are posted here and at a hundred other places on the web.

And they never spend another dime at the poor operator's site.

So the operator finds his videos on the web [some of them] and decides "Fuck this downloading my videos and giving them away" and decides to stream his product instead.

And no one ever goes to his site again, because all pornsters hate streamng videos.

So after six or nine months he's so broke because he has to keep paying the license fee every month, and his memberships have dropped to 150 a month, because all his product is out on the web for free, so he shuts down his domain and becomes a homeless vagrant.

Typical story. Did I leave anything out?
