What happened to Empornium ?

Anyone know wtf happened to Empornium? Awhile back, a lot of major contributors left the site & deleted all their torrents. Several posts were made in the torrent sections that linked to fake previews pics that were really messages trashing the site and explaining what happened, but I don't have that image anymore and never fully understood the message. Seemed like there was a hostile takeover and the site went commercial. The forums were taken down for many months, and now that they are up, you must be a paying member to create a thread. That's about the time I started posting here instead.

My memory of what happened is pretty much the same as you describe. When it all started to kick off I switched to cheggit instead - try it out, it's better than empornium ever was!

Emp's search engine made things easier to find than cheggit's tags. But I've not used torrents for quite some time now - and I never was too big on p2p anyways except for small things like mp3's on soulseek.
