Ah I see. Sorry but I misread your question. Embarassed I use avi, mpeg, rm wmv splitter from boilsoft for that. It's a good program but you have to purchase it.

Maybe someone will know of a free one, then.

Hmm, I'm playing around with Windows Movie Maker. I didn't know I had it. Hope it works ok.

Hello, Deity. MediaWare Solutions MyFlix XE is an editor for MPEG1 and MPEG2. It is simple to use, you edit the scene that you want and MyFlix will then let you save that part to a new file. Also there is River Past Video Slice.

Hi Deity.

For more hints read the sticky from MM at the vidsection, if you haven't already.

I'm using a set of different tools depending on filetype.

For wmv files, joining and splitting, I do recommend asftools310.
You can google for it or use the link I have from the program.
http://go.to/asftools
Have some popups but, it's the price you pay for using it. Very Happy
Lot faster to combine or split wmv than with MovieMaker.
Sometimes though, once in a hundred maybee, it wont do the job and I still need to use MovieMaker.

For combining mpg I use the attached program MpgJoin.
Unsofisticated but a lot faster than using MovieMaker.
(For splitting I usually convert with MovieMaker and then split with asftools310)
HJ-split can be used to split mpg's but it's blunt.
Taking off the .nnn from the splits and leaving .mpg worked for me when I tested.
Each part played on it's own.
You have no visual control on where the cut is made so trial and error.
A bit like trimming the mustach using a hedgeclipper. Very Happy

For joining avi I use MediaJoin and DivX 6 codec.
For some reason, with my newest pc (XP Home), it only accept to combine 2 files at the time.
With my older pc (XP Proffesional) it accepts several files.
For splitting I'm currently testing SolveigMM_AVI_Trimmer_1_2_beta.
See attachement or google for it, might be newer version.
I used that to remove the Dina part from Seven teen 7 before posting.
I think it should be possible to use for combining aswell but not checked yet.

Hope this is usefull for you and others.

Windows Movie Maker works just fine.
