Subject: It has reach epidemic proportion, the serious lack of THANKS
It has reach epidemic proportion, the serious lack of ability to thank people for their work. I have seen more and more new posters to this site asking for things on their very first post.
I want to say to ALL the newbees, try saying thanks before asking for stuff. I for one would be more willing to assist you if you contributed to this site before asking for stuff.
Try using a little common courtesy and common sense. People will be far more forthcoming with what’s on their computer if you are willing to thank people.
I have all but quit posting at several sites because so many people just take and take. I know and expect lechers. What I hate are LAMMERS who want something for nothing.
I do agree with you and am guilty of not thanking enough, I don't download a lot (rapidshare doesn't love me I think I forgot it's birthday or something) but I've dl'd more than I've thanked. So sorry to those who gave to me and a big belated thanks - I do appreciate what you do even if I don't always show it.
But I noticed 1 member who thanked everybody. I looked up the profile
joined end May 2006, a whacking 105 posts, 104 thank yous and 1 non-contributory thingy.
How do you rate this?
good guy? for thanks
bad guy? for leeching
I have no point to make and I'm not being nasty - just interested
From what I understand and I could be wrong here, that person will not see the prize when they reach 300 posts. They will then get told that they did not contribute to the board.
For me, a few "thanks" gets me to be more willing to help them if they are looking for something. But if they don't contribute to the board it gets noticed and they start getting ignored.

Believe me guys, it is not just a problem on this forum but many others. I would guess the root cause is the growing popularity of free hosters and the growth of new users unaware of forum manners. But then there are the hardcore leechers who have absolutely NO class so naturally they will never say thank you. Like the bums raiding the samples stands in grocery stores...pure gluttons.
