... without spending a few hours or right-clicking ad nauseum.

Here's the situation. Let's say you have a webpage with about 150 - 200 thumbnail links on it. Each thumb takes you to a pic on an imagehosting site (e.g. imagevenue). Each original hi-res pic is about 300K - 600K. I have a 256K connection. See where I'm going with this? It takes me about 2 hours to get one page worth of pics, and my hand hurts! Evil or Very Mad

I'm looking for some sort of program that will enable me to automatically get all of the pics. I don't care if its slow. And I promise to share whatever I get here!

I have a PC and I use IE, in case that matters (although MM recommended that I switch to firefox). Also, when it comes to this stuff I am pretty darned ignorant and not very computer savvy. I don't know shit from shinola, and when I looked at the other topics in this section, I couldn't even tell if this has been asked before due to the "lingo" being used -- "image-grabber" sounded promising but I think that's for videos, and I don't know what the fusk a "fusker" is.

Thanks for any words of advice or recommendations!

Google for FlashGet.This is the download manager I use. This program allows you to download jpg's from the whole page with just a couple of clicks. However, make sure that when you run your cursor over the thumbnail on the page that it says it's a jpg- because, if it says it's an html, then you can only get those pics the old- fashioned way.Hope this helps- PM me if you need more info or post another reply. Enjoy!!! Cool

Thanks to both Dark_Angel and Tui. Will experiment with these this weekend when I have more time. No doubt I'll have, ohhh, say, 200 questions or so. Confused I am such an idjet when it comes to some of these things...

Apologies for the lax response, just got back from a short business trip.

'Tis okay, ramblin' man!!! I used to do the aim and shoot for quite some time now. I wish I would have known about stuff like this before myself- being almost 40, and going into the computer stuff seemed very overwhelming to me. I have been through at least some of the bull on the computer... but now, my friends say that whenever I talk about the computer, I lose them. This is a good sign indeed!!! Let me know what you need help on- I'm not a cherry anymore!!! Watch out, new generation!!!

***PS: Please, all you younger, computer-savvy types- please don't ping me!!!

Offline Explorer Laughing
Tis a nice little programme for ripping web sites. Copy the url of the page and post it in Offline explorer and choose download later if you have a few sites you want. When you've got the links setup in Offline, highlight and start it off. Walk away and depending on the size of the sites you are ripping is how long it will take. It can be paused and restarted. Select what you want eg: zips, movies pics and such.

Thanks for all your information. I so tiered of right clicking to save. So I've been trying flashget like you recommended. i input the url for the page that has all the thumbnails. Then it just downloads all the thumbnails. Do you know what I need to do to get the actual full size pic?

I've recently found a tool called Bulk Image Downloader.
It can be integrated with IE, Opera and Firefox with an extension.
You just have to make a right click on a page with the thumbnailed gallery and select to open the current page with Bulk Image Downloader, the program starts with the url of the page you visited, looks for the images link and is ready to download the whole set.
I have only the limited version, but it works great.
Here's the link: http://antibody.za.net

I use an add-on for firefox called DownThemAll! for galleries and the like. You can use it to get videos and zips/rars as well as pics. It also works from a forum like this one.

Example:

If you have an RS Premium account and have it turned on to automatic download this will work. Go to a thread with a huge amount of links, all on RS. Rather than clicking on each one separately you just click on the DownThemAll! button on your menu bar and it will find all the links on the page for whatever type of file you want, or all types, and queue them in a huge list for downloading at you convenience, you will have to note down any passwords yourself and I wouldn't recommend downloading more than 5 files at a time from your list, but much easier than clicking on each one separately.

For site ripping I use a program called teleport pro. More complicated to use but ideal for getting whole sites. I can set it running overnight and wake up with 10GB's of movies the next morning and sort out what I want to keep. You can set it to download pics movies or even create a working copy of the site with all the content on your hard drive. Of course you need a working pass to the site for it to work.

Example of teleport pro wizard choices in the pic below.

Download them all is available here:
hxxps://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/201

I'm afraid I don't remember where I got teleport pro from but I think I still have the file somewhere so could dig it out for anyone who wants it. PM me if you do. Wink

I hope this helps anyone who needs it. Very Happy

Neodownloader is brilliant for sites that run pics via a .jpg extension, but doesn't work on site like this that have the pictures hidden within the system.

Just do a google search for neodownloader
