This video game comes out here in the states on 11-11-11. I am so excited to get back into the world or realm of the Elder Scrolls universe. How many of you out there have played the Elder Scrolls game like Morrowind and Oblivion, and are also excited about the upcomming Skyrim?
If you have played these games before, what character did ya play? What race were you? In Skyrim, I hear you can play as a Vampire!
What were your strategies when playing...what guilds did ya join? Please go into detail about your gaming expereinces....thanks!

I didn't realize a new one was coming out. This is great news. I just hope they make it way, way bigger than the previous games. I don't expect it to be as big as Just Cause 2 but at least half that size would be amazing. And they better allow you to use both 1st and 3rd person view like the other games.

Never played Morrowwind but played thru Oblivion a few times. I still remember coming out of the sewers at night for the first time. I was so blown away by how great it looked. Seems like a long time ago now that I think about it.

Can't remember what race I played but I ended up as a vampire. I had the cure but decided not to use it other than as an experiment before reloading. Belonged to all the guilds. First time I was just a hack and slasher, the second I played it more like an assassin.

Should be epic. My son and I will be fighting over time with the disk.

I'm sure you can come up with a reason to ground the little rascal to his room for a week or two! Laughing

I tried to get into DragonAge Origins, but after Oblivion I couldn't handle the 'closed' structure of that world. I like being able to roam off the road, get lost in the forest, stumble upon temples, etc. Dragon Age, although more interesting in terms of plot and character development, seemed too limiting in terms of openness.

I couldn't agree more. I was a big time Everquest player and you could pretty much go anywhere you wanted in the beginning. You just had to learn to be careful where you went or you could spend hours doing a CR. But that was part of the thrill of the game. I still remember my bard being killed off at the docks in Ocean Of Tears! I mistook a pirate npc for a player and he killed me. Another time a cyclops swam out and attacked me while I was traveling on the ship. My corpse sank to the bottom of the ocean in the middle of nowhere with all my gear on it. Shocked I was a newbie and spent over 3 hours trying to find it. Laughing

So when I play open world games like Elder Scrolls or Fallout, I try not to save it other than when the auto save occurs after entering a building. It just makes the game so much more intense. And frustrating.

Less than 4 days to go now! Very Happy

Playing it right now and it is AMAZING! They really outdid themselves. Even simply dungeons are gorgeous in details. The game plays smooth as hell on xbo360. None of the loading crap the last Elder Scrolls had as you wandered around. There is of course load time when you enter various buildings or dungeons, but that's to be expected. Only complaint is that killing stuff is a little too easy. It shouldn't be this easy at such a low level but I'm guessing they will scale the difficulty up to match whatever level you are like they did with Fallout.

And the dragons....The dragons are incredibly impressive.

I just got Skyrim and set the difficulty to adept so it would be a bit of a challenge. Then i set out into the world only to be smashed by anything with big teeth or magic. Is it because i went exploring the opposite direction to the storyline and its nastier on that side of the world or is it just that bit harder on adept and i should knock down the difficulty?

That's what I did. But some dungeons are simply too tough to handle early on. Even at level 41 I run into some wizards who nuke me once and kill me. Other places I just destroy them like they were nothing. If you get to one of the main cities where there is a Jarl, you can do the quests an get a NPC to go with you. Or you can hire one from a tavern. Or buy a war dog. Sometimes the NPC will seem indestructible and other times they can die quick. But you just can't hack and slash your way through all of it. Main tactic to use is try to stay up high when fighting stuff and attack from a distance if possible. Fighting a giant at close range will only get you killed quickly. Also helps if you are in sneak mode when you attack to get get double damage. Attack and then sneak off before they find you.

Things will really improve once you start to get your shouts. Mark of Death will help you kill things a lot faster, including dragons.

Also, the higher the level you get, the better the merchandise is in stores. All skills can be greatly increased with treasure found or bought. And even if you are playing a melee type character, you still want a heal spell and a pet spell like the fire atronach or whatever it's called.

One nice thing they do is they let you know if a dungeon has been cleared on the map. Helps you keep track of what you have and haven't done.

And you want a horse as soon as possible. A horse will let you go places you can't go otherwise. Kinda like having 4 wheel drive. A horse will also attack things and can die if you're not careful.

The game does have a few bugs so if you get stuck, just ask.

I'm currently playing it and loving it. I'm a big Morrowind fan, I didn't liked Oblivion much, but Skyrim is way better imho.

You can encounter some bugs but it's nothing compared to some previous Bethesda games. (Or maybe this time I'm just lucky? ) Surprised

have been playing it for a few weeks, it's incredibly amazing. Don't like the new pick up gear system though, but love the graphics and story.
