I am curious if it is possible to copy/convert streaming video from a flash player into downloadable files (avi, mpeg, etc.).

I often view streaming video from a popular webcam site. I would like to record some of these videos if at all possible. The site uses Macromedia Flash Player.

Has anyone had any experience with this, and if it is possible, can you guide me in the right direction?

If the flash vid is saved to your HD, you could try this piece of software. I tried it myself on a Flash video (.flv extension) from YouTube and converted it into an mpeg just fine.

Hope this helps. Very Happy

Thanks for your response, but unfortunately I haven't even gotten that far. I have yet to be able to even save any of the videos. I was hoping there might be some software that exists that will enable me to do so.

I use Sothink SWF decompiler. It becomes a plugin to your browser, and allows you to save the Flash oblects on a web page. Then, using Magic SWF2GIF, I can create an animated gif of the flash...

Perfect.
PM me if you need more info.

ubi, if you`re referring to SoThink SWF Decompiler, it does plug into Firefox.

Quote:
SWF Catcher for Firefox. Sothink SWF Decompiler can convert your SWF movie files back to FLA files completely and quickly. This is the most stable tool to decompile SWF.

I have a working copy, with fix, ubi, if you want. I`ll zip it and upload it just in case you need it and then send you a PM.

edit
I`ll just post the Rapidshare link here when done. That way, any others who might need a working copy can get it too.
