No Movie - free gift (RS account)

Hi all,

Tomorrow at 02:00 GDT I will give away a free premium Rapidshare account (with some bonus vids) to the person with the most posts who replies to this thread.

All I ask...and it's on the honour system...is that you NOT reply if you already have a premium account.

The account will have 15 days to run, and has 3000 points...all you need to do to keep the account ticking over is to post stuff...at 10000 points you can renew for 30 days.

Note...I will check the top posters...and if I don't see some good vid posts, I will go to the next person on the list.

You perhaps need to aim the prize (if it's permitted) at the lowest posters - the leechers, who would probably benefit most anyway...

BTW ballyhoo, offering a free RS account is a nice gesture, don't get me wrong I'm not knoking your generousity or intent, just the way you went about it. A PM to one of the Mods first may have been a good first move.

Grimble, ballyhoo is not saying you need to post a vid HERE (grabbed it by the way ) he is simply requiring that the one he gives the pass to is a Vidiot, or at least partial Vidiot, just not a Pic Guy...

He is saying that he will review people who "apply" for the free pass, and check THEIR posts to be sure they are Vidiots...

Anyone applying for the pass, please DO NOT post vids here, because once the odd contest goes away, I would like to see this thread go away ASAP

Someone who has a huge stack of posts with no uploads is not going to get the account...

the ONLY password sharing will occur when I tell the winner the password...the winner should then change the password, unless the winner is a complete idiot...

A lurker who posts a little but doesn't have an account on RS is likely to be the winner...and perhaps winning will prompt that lurker to start posting.

And HOW I choose to give away the account should be of no concern to you as long as I don't propose anything illegal...which I aren't!

I just do not want to see a bunch of people putting video posts in THIS THREAD, trying to win it, because they would be wasted here when the contest is over...

I thought I was paying attention, perhaps you should attach a contract or something.

BTW... I can't see any transfer function on RS's page, so you will have to share the pass. Even if you don't use the account it's still in your name.

As far as I'm concerned, posting here at this forum just for a reward, isn't the goal here. It should be nothing more than an added bonus. Something you have to earn.

I think everyone knows I speak my mind around here, justifiably or not, but I think this whole contest thing is an insult, of sorts, towards everyone who busts their asses off here for no gain. I think if someone wants to give something away, find someone who's posts you like, and pm them the gift...like Photo was alluding to about an already VERY generous member here. The best idea would be to use the RS account, Ballyhoo, and start uploading stuff - that would be the best gift of all. = )~

personally, I dont want or need your prize, I think also its an insult to the members and causes to much fighting, bitching and not enough productivity come posting time.

Well, Gnome, you may not have noticed, but until this thread, most of my post count IS uploads. And since when did you need an RS account to upload? And speaking of RS accounts...the first one is indeed tied to your e-mail address. Subsequent accounts are numbered and anonymous...once the password is changed, the former holder of the account has no way of getting back on...and Photo1...if the recipient doesn't like the content...then he/she can use the KILL switch to remove the files permanently!

I would have thought that the prolific posters will already have one or more RS accounts...As a matter of fact, this free account is one (of three) I no longer need, since I'm slowing down on my internet activity for the summer...and rather than just let it lapse, I thought I'd give it away...not to someone who has only leached...but to someone new who has a respectable (if low) post count of uploads, and could use the account to harvest more stuff to post here. Certainly the other account I gave away (also a numbered account), the recipient is uploading lots of neat stuff...because she wants to keep the account going...so a lurker became a poster...wow...what a concept.

And based on my experience elsewhere...a point count of 3000+ with 15 days on the account is more than enough time to build up to the renewal limit. I just posted two full DVDs elsewhere (my own rips of brand new stuff, with another 3 coming)...in the week they have been up, the account they are tied to has increased the point count by 15000...and I don't use small files to do that, or post the previews on RS...the previews (as with my posts here) are on fapomatic (no point count for me there)...and the file sizes are at or close to the RS maximum (105Mb)...no 160x4Mb files from me...which I have seen here.

In most of the fora to which I belong, the freebies go to the new **** on the block who need the encouragement...and in most of the fora, the long time posters in the fora tend not to be as unwelcoming either...

Sure I'm new here...just found this site. That does not imply I have no experience in fora...just the reverse as a matter of fact. And in every other forum to which I belong, the give-away is done on some form of merit...either answering a riddle, or by post-count for newbie/lurker members or by high score on a game...because the first-come, first-served principle is intrinsically unfair...and on every one of those fora...the folks with RS accounts self identify as not being eligible for the give-away if/when they respond to the contest.

Perhaps if the 'regulars' were a little less hostile/derisory more people would feel welcome and post. Just a thought...
