This case is about a 40 yr old hacker from England who broke into the Pentagon's computer system and caused a huge amount of disruption. He was, inevitably, arrested but the strange thing is that the US is now seeking his extradition from England so that he can stand trial in America. He's not a US citizen and he carried out the crime outside US territory but it seems that he might be extradited. Whatever happened to the concept of jurisdiction? Seems like if US authorities want you then they'll get you no matter where you live.

The hacker's lawyer is also worried that his client will be shipped off to Guantanamo as a threat to US national security. It would be fairly extreme if that happened but anything is possible under the guise of "national security" these days.

I guess it could be worse though. I mean if he had compromised Israeli national security they would have just kidnapped him or killed him.

The cops where at his house in ten min , arrested him in front of his family and he was charged with a felony 3 months in jail .

Wow, it seems really harsh to go to prison for 3 months for something he said when he was drunk. Maybe the bar was able to give the police your friend's number and then they traced his address from his home phone number. But how they could have worked it out so quickly especially at evening/night is baffling. Alternatively, Big Brother is listening in on communications. Either way it's very strange.

Roumours are he was looking for withheld information on UFO's on NASA and Pentagon computers! The poor fuck.. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4905036.stm)
The allegation he has caused $700.000 puzzles me: how can one cause that damage by just looking around?
