I was wondering if a Link Checker that converts text links into hyperlinks (including scripts that convert hxxp to http) ... does that void the benefit of using those functions?

As I understand it those functions are supposed to conceal the origin of the link from the file host.

Also, does using:

Code:

[url=http://link]Text[/url]

help at all?

"Hide" is not practical since foroumophilia's registration is invite only.

Ok thanks fukalot. My intent is to understand a "best practices" so links can stay up as long as possible.

My main question though is about Link Checkers. I'm guessing it's the "referrer" that gives away the link's location. When someone clicks on a text link (converted to a hyperlink by a Link Checker) is, the referrer sent as well?

EDIT: I did some research and testing on how Link Checkers work (at least for mine anyways) and I think I got some good info for everyone on this topic. I'll put it in another post.
