I saw on PBS 700 people a day dying in Moscow
because of the smoke from forest fires.
I don't understand, first why this is possible
and, second why so little news about it in the west?

Hope our friends are okay

apparently that's against the usual daily
deaths in a big city, so deaths have doubled
from normal, perhaps

still, hope our friends are okay

If you have Sky tv, check out the Russia Today news channel, or find them online. They have good coverage of the fires in Russia. They also cover other news stories the western media can't/won't broadcast.

It was news here. And from what I understood, it's not like 700 people a day die from the fires. There's just 700 deaths a day.

20,000,000 minus 700 doesn't seem like much. Sucks for them with the fires though.

You're shocked at news coming from Russian being unsubstantiated and not widely reported??? Really?

Was in Moscow at the start of August and it was pretty hard going. I only stopped en route to Minsk by train but that was too long. Would have hated to live there during that.

Have been to Moscow twice, its a hard life out there, a completley different style of life to the west, they put up with a lot more than us on a daily basis for a lot less in my opinion.
