With the new change in management, I haven't seen a banned sites list added (or I've totally missed it in my late night browsings and search is being a hooker about it).

Are we allowed to post material from sites like Pattycake Online, etc. that were formerly banned?

I would strongly NOT suggest to post any material that was banned before and is likely to be banned again since it is very likely that people posting that material will be banned alongside with the material they were posting at some point.

OK?

But I know for sure, that some webmasters/site owners are members here and I guess, they are very unhappy to see the rules have changed.

And I´m sure that thoes webmasters/site owners soon will give Forumophilia big big trouble.

...and this is how trouble may look like:

Fortunately Svinto was a very wise admin who managed copyright complaints very well. Files were deleted and sites banned, but the members and the forum itself were safe.

Running a board like this is not as easy as it looks like. The new staff will (painfully) find out.

Oh, how helpful.

If your friend the new forum owner decided to remove the banned sites list, typically with NO explanation, then you cannot expect everybody to remember what was on it before.

From your comment you suggest people will be banned for posting material they have no way of knowing is banned?

Absurd. Laughing

Unless it's for posting obvious ch!ld p0rrn or something, then to punish members due to the forum owner's negligence would be disgusting. I hope you clarify that such action would only take place for people who breach rules after a banned site list returns, and it is your duty as mods to go back and delete the offending content posted beforehand- without punishing members.

I predict a lot of legal trouble for you lot too. The site owners who the old mods co-operated with won't appreciate the new regime suggesting (via the lack of any guidance) that it's OK to post their sites again. Have fun. Wink

Yeah, made mine visible right after the rule changes.
At this time it was possible.
Nowadays your account will be set inactive, if you change it.

By the way: They banned my captain here Evil or Very Mad

Is there any way to notice if someone is banned? I mean other than guessing from he isn't responding?

nope. not with the board software they use atm. with the old software it was possible. with the old software it was also possible to give a warning or a time ban. but with the new one you can only ban. no time warning or temp ban.

*edit* maybe it's possible with the new board software, but GS don't need it to support the mods.

Changing ones email resulting in a lockout from the forum by the account have been set inactive, is a general problem.
Not aiming at any particular member.

When we change the email address in our profile, we receive a link (at the old address or the new one, i don't remember) that we must click to reactivate the account. Am I right ?

You are right in your statement and it should be sent to your new email.
The thing is that the reactivation email isn't sent out or sent somewhere else than to the new email.
Result is that whitout reactivation off the account you are locked out of the forum.
Helped a lot off members to reactivate manually when I was able to as an Admin.

May be an old problem that have popped up again.
I remember I was once locked out myself, back in Jan 2007, when I had become a Moderator here and I changed my email.
I then sent an email to GS, no reply but I was let back in.

Ah, OK, svinto. I understand the thing now.

By the way, just realize that this topic is dedicated to a question about Pattycake ...

I like that a fairly simple question turned into such an interesting thread about forum mechanics.

I'll go back to lurking until I know if I can post what I have collected. In all fairness, I do not really want to try to slip it in while the rules are still gelling, I'll give the new folks a chance to get their selves on stable ground.

Though, it'd give me something to post on RS....

GS have tested the reactivation of accounts after a change of the email in the Profile.
It should be working. Only time can tell if it does all the time.

Sorry Luxus, but there is a tendency lately that anything could sparc a completly different discussion than the originally intended.
I agree with moderator ayebite, in those cases where we know a site was previously restricted, it's better to stay safe and keep it in VIP.
