The thread search box seems to have disappeared in the past week or two. I can't find anything about it being removed in any announcements threads. What's up?

The forum software has been upgraded and a lot of old usefull features has disappeared.
If they are ever coming back?
Ask the forum owner, Good Samaritan.

Any news on this? It's a bit hopeless to find anything now.

Edit: Oh wait, I just realised you can search posts instead of topics. Well, that helps a lot. Very Happy

Not really. Question

Come on "Good" Samaritan, bring "Search Topic" option back NOW!

Why are you doing your best to destroy everything good about FO?

Agreed completely. Everyone would love to have the search function back. GS......if you don't want to can you at least explain why? It will definitely work well with all threads Oron hoster included.
Global search is such a pain and even if you are lucky to find something you want....it only point you to a thread (usually around 50 more attached) and if the thread has 100 pages then good luck finding it. If I am not doing something right to use that search plz enlighten me lol......desperately needing help.

Tick "Display results as Posts" and you will directly see the posts and not only the thread.

This is true.

If you know/expect what you're looking for to be posted by a particular member (for example, the thread starter), then add their username in "Search for Author" in addition to the search terms.

But of course it's a much more long-winded and less reliable method than "Search Topic". Sad

Big thanks! yes that was much better lol...........didn't even know to try that. But it still returned with posts not related to it when I searched a given model name for example.......and when looking into those threads I don't see what I was looking for..wrong returns? But tick that "as post" is much better already......where is the help and technical issue section? Maybe if GS is going to refuse within the thread search function forever then someone maybe write up an instruction and stick it as sticky on Help & Technical section......but there is none? Confused

GS canceled that technical section and transfered the posts to here in General.

True that, I just tried what you said and it narrowed down fine..........but just like you said......the in-thread search should be allowed and is much easier way for everyone. Unless there is other covert operation going on that GS just won't tell us his true intention.

If only this is the way going to be then at least make it a sticky for everyone.........looks like they don't want us searching.......for some reason. Wink

Initiating anything regarding new topics or sections isn't doable at the time being.
Way to busy whacking weed. Very Happy
I could qoute what GS wrote about the new posters in a PM to me when I called them spammers, but I won't.
Not since he reprimanded me for qouting our PM conversation in the MODS BOARD.

Understood. But maybe in between your pulling out the weeds the "time been" is also crucial for new members that are struggling and older members that are wondering to have guidance and something to look up to. When if I visit a new forum I look for Help and this and that sections first.......FO doesn't have one and is really hard for anyone new coming in. I know you are very busy but maybe you can delegate down and have someone else do the imperative for you? I think Help section is a must and where everyone can communicate their problems and issues. Better for the forum.

edit: Help section is not just for Mods/Admins, members can also pitch in too and also learn from it.

edit2: just for a laugh........ if someone is going to comment "which forum doesn't have a Help section etc" then I would have to high-5 that person.
