Hi,
My old Windows 98se pc has been showing signs of its age for some time now, taking for ever to start up, not shutting down properly, freezing, etc, plus the hard drive was practically full, so I've bought a new pc.

The problem I have now is that for the last couple of days my old pc won't start up properly, it keeps on going to the Windows 98 Start Up Menu. I can get it to start in safe mode & I've run a full scandisk which didn't show any errors.

I tried Step by step confirmation which went as far as the command Msmouse.vxd (Enter=Y, Esc=N)? then the pc tried to restart and went back to the StartUp Menu.

I'm not to bothered about my old pc working fully but I have a lot of files I want to save to my new pc. Of course I've never backed up any files as I always thought this sort of thing happens to some other guy. If only the pc had continued working for 2 more days. Evil or Very Mad

I have a Zen micro and also a card reader and memory card which I could use to transfer files over but of course the drivers for these devices don't load in safe mode.

Has anyone got any thoughts on how to save my files, I don't really want to take my pc to a repair shop. Embarassed

Thanks for any help.

So you say you have a shit load of porn you dont want the pc tech to see. Well if your going to get a new pc just make sure it has an extra ide connector then you can simply connect the old hard drive to it. solved. You might have to go through disk manager so your os will see it but it should be simple enuff. And so all is not lost here are some big o tittys.
