So I can no longer just log in to my RapidPro Account, have the cookie set, then click an RS link and have my browser's download prompt box appear? Good grief...

It's obvious if I'm a fully paid-up RapidPro user that I want to pick the "High Speed Download" option. Mad

Yes you can matadorstuff.
Just get the settings right.
Log in to your account, don't forget to click the new box: Remember me on this computer.
Set Direct downloads to On in your Settings Profile.
Works for me.

Thanks a lot, svinto. Very Happy

I assumed clicking "Remember me on this computer" would work, but I hadn't looked around the settings.

From RS FAQ: Smile
Quote:
Why do some remote upload not work?

The remote upload function is currently available with limited service. It has been determined that this function has made it easier to distribute copyright protected material.

We are **** to take action against the distribution of copyrighted material, even if we sometimes affect users who have used this service in a fully legal manner.

Holy Jesus, they fucked up their site.

And I'm having cookie problems, apparently because I run multiple Firefox profiles and the profile I use for "teh pr0n" is on an encrypted hard drive. I have to re-enter my login credentials every time I mount the drive. "Remember Me" only works until I dismount. Thing is, I've done this for 3 years with RS and it worked fine until this most recent upgrade of theirs.

RS is the only hosting site I pay for, but now when given the option I choose to download as a free user from MU rather than a paid user from RS.

What kind of business model is that, when your paid service is not as good as someone else's free service? I mean, c'mon. 'Tards.

Seems like once you hired one of these marketing guys or webdesigners, he feels **** to "improve" your business every 3 or 4 months. But what else should he do?

At least the new site is working much faster than the old one, but while it is full of useless (for me) nonsense and ads, i tested the new "RS Manager 2" and i'm happy with it.
It's not based on MS .net like the old version, but on Java.
And it provides the missing features like link export and detailed file info. If you have more than 50 files in your account it's the much better and faster than the RS browser frontend. You can even manage multiple accounts and i have the impression that uploading is slighty faster than with the old RSManager.

Let's see how things develop, forusfin Wink

One interesting thing i just found out today regarding the RSManager2:

Remember all this talking from RS about privacy and security of the uploader?

You can display a lot of details for each file and also the IP of the uploader:

screenshot

I looked for my oldest uploads from June 2007 and the IP was still stored on RS servers. I checked it and it was one of the IPs used by my former ISP.
Of course it might be difficult to find any connection between a 3 year old IP and me, but what is this good for: i guess there's only one answer Confused

I would not be surprised if this detail vanishes with the next update ...

The IP-stuff is a quite old "feature" Very Happy

Hehe, but on Sept, 1st they lost most of my upload-IPs (I don't mind Very Happy ) but also the md5-checksums are gone Crying or Very sad

Still no answer from the support, why they increased the price for one month including 150 GB traffic from 435 to 495 Rapids Mad
(old conditions: 30GB + 24*5GB for 99+24*14=435 Rapids, now: 495 Rapids)
and which f*#king customer wanted these great less flexible changes without any improvements?

Usually RS makes a great "improvement" and explains later what they have done and then, after many complaints of user the revert back to a little less bad change - and everyone is happy again Evil or Very Mad
I guess now they really want to get rid of the bad people who use their "service".

Ok so i'm totally lost!
HELP!!
I have a Rapidshare account fully paid up until April 2011.
Rapidpro is active until april 2011.
I have 5852 Rapids left.
I have 40 Mb storage used.
I have 85337 download traffic left.
But: every link I click on tells me Rapidpro has expired, or the link cannot be found... unless I download it as a free user, in which case some download, and some don't.
What on earth am I meant to do to get a fully paid-up account working?

Right now it's working for me.
Seems like RS is occasionally having some (short) down-times recently - maybe they are fixing stuff or it's just server-downgrades Twisted Evil

Maybe enabling "Direct downloads" (1st item in settings) helps?

RS had problems setting the cookie correctly - log out and login again sets a valid cookie.

If that doesn't help, try the other "Voodoo-rituals": clear cache and cookies, restart machine, etc.

Maybe a download-manager like jDownloader gives a helpful message or is at least just downloading fine?

Don't know it this still works, but enabled Automatic extension of RapidPro should convert your last Rapids into about six days (30GB) RapidPro. Rolling Eyes

Yep, it still works. Thank you. Is it something I should have known? I mean, the description says, that your account will be extended automatically only if you have enough rapids.
