What's up with Rapidshare?

Every RS link I click on in the pic post forum regardless of the poster.

RS prompts me to enter a name and password for a premium member account... and will not allow me to D/L any files.

Its never done that before.

What gives?

No problems on my side.

Do you have a premium or do you want to dl as free user?!?

Have you activated the direct dl option (only premium)?!?

RS changed a little bit last week (e.g. session cookie only).

login to the old zone, which still has a permanent cookie (valid till year 2024) and don't use the new zone (when you used the new zone: open the old zone, before you close the browser). https://ssl.rapidshare.com/cgi-bin/premiumzone.cgi?refresh=1
The cookie of the new zone is valid for a week now. (no session-cookie anymore)

Also it seems that RS swithed the buttons for Free/Premium to Premium/Free at the download-page.

Look more carefully, they have changed place of "free" and "premium" buttons; if you without premium login try to click premium, which now is on the left, you get warning about error, missing cookie etc.

I'm getting the same...i'm a free user, but have a collector's account.
it does no good! on it, it says:
Free RapidPoints: 8519
Premium RapidPoints: 4142
and all my saved files are long gone!

i qued up a bunch of dl's last night on my JDownloader, this morning I found that none of the RS links had worked.

is there a free way around this?

it says this:
"Your Cookie has not been recognized. Please login below, or purchase a Premium Account. Your Account will be activated immediately."

no more free RS? Is there a time at night when it will work?
Should we encourage people to stop up'ing on RS?

RS is always getting worse (and they figure out how far they can go), but they are still one of the best for most people.
