Blurred bar at the bottom of video player

I use vlcplayer and kmplayer and having recently reinstalled windows I now get a blurred bar at the very bottom of player when playing video files.

Can anyone help please?

Maybe a screenshot would help. Does that mean a part of the video is missing? Are all video types affected (wmv, avi, mpg)? Does this change when switching to full display mode? Does this bar appear when you open the video in an editor (avi, mpg in VirtualDub, wmv in ASFTools)?

Sounds like a codec problem or a problem with your graphic card driver ...
