Saugstelle -- heh heh -- well the babble-fish translation I got was "Suck Place". I reckon that's close enough to get the gist of the picture .....
Nope Mr. Krumble I hadn't heard about the Celtic Cross in North Carolina, so I did a quickie search and couldn't find anything about it online.
Would be curious to hear more.
Of course there were European and possibly African visitors to North America before that asshole Columbus. Templars may have been visiting for a couple hundred years before. There is evidence linking Scandinavian visitors about 400-500 years before, both in what is now Canada and what is now the US. There is WRITTEN evidence that Muslims came from Spain and/or north Africa around the same time, although farther south in Florida and the Caribbean. Hell, there are also the old legends about both St. Brendan (the Navigator) coming from Ireland and landing "somewhere" during the 6th century A.D., and even Taliesin sailing over from Wales sometime before that. Heck, given the proximity of Siberia/Russia to North America, its foolish to think no one ever crossed over that little bitty distance. But "proof" of course is hard to come by, and means different things to different people.
Its all friggin' MOOT. There were people already in North America. White-centric Christian-centric western education pisses me off. Its what I was spoon-fed as well.
In fact, the people we call Native Americans actually came from
ASIA thousands of years ago over the land bridge. I've been to Mongolia, and trust me when I say you can see the racial similarities between the Native Americans and the peoples of Central Asia. However, most Native American peoples have spent thousands and thousands of years more in a hotter and more southern climate, ergo they are darker. Or, "redder".
Shit. For fuck's sake, if you go back far enough, about 60K years, every single person gets traced back to Africa. So when you get right down to it, we are all Africans. And all the racist people around the globe can suck my balls.
If you're at all interested in how they have traced the spread of humanity around the world, check out this link about the National Geographic project. Its pretty cool, IMHO. Its also cool that anyone can participate when they travel to remote places.
Of course, this is for when I take a break from looking at amazingly beautiful hot teen girls.
