Hi

For the last month or so I've been encoding videos using H.264/AVC/MPEG-4 Part 10 as a compression technique to re size video to make them smaller in size, without any loss of quality. For example a 700 MB movie will be 350 MB after recoding. I do this for people with slow connections or free rapidshare users.

Normally to end result will be in a wkv container (.wkv) but I can also use the mp4 container, so you the videos are compatible with iPod/iPhone/iPad/PSP and also x-box i think. You can obviously play these videos on your PC or Mac.

So my question is: which do you prefer? mkv or mp4?

I have examples of both in my rapidshare folder. There is no difference in quality.

I'd go with MP4, simply because it can be used on more devices. Not to mention due to MP4, things get easier for iPod and iPhone users if they want to take one of the videos with them.

But all in all, both are good .

Indeed, MP4. Better compatibility.
