8000 Premium Points = 30 Day Account


I didn't have enough, converted premium to free and have over 10,000 free points, but no option to convert. They don't take free points? If not, why give me an option to convert premium to free?

Still available in my premium (though I haven't tried it):

Maybe Bobby Chang, who recently left RS, was the only one who knew what kind of "strategy" this point-system followed.
They have changed so much in the recent months that i'm awaiting a major clean-up in the near future.
As far as i remember they started to make a difference between free (less worthy) and premium (the "better" points) points as they opened their referrer-system: poster should do part of the marketing work by promoting premium accounts and referrer-points were counted as premium points.

But since a normal poster could never influence the status of the downloader (premium or free) i never saw a deeper logic behind that ...

So I figured I'd cash in some Premium points to make my Free Points 10,000, which should be enough for a 30 day account, but there is no option to cash them in.

Perhaps the free points can only be used to extend a Premium account. I only use a collector account. Shouldn't have converted points. Guess ill upload some porn.

Yeah, free points are useless for collector accounts.

Really funny, but RS seems to be the only filehoster around where you get constantly less for more.
With the old exchange rate you could get one year premium with 87.500 premium points, now you need 100k points (calculation without free points).

Looks like RS is seeing the problem that the points counter is inflationary getting bigger and bigger, and their only solution is to make the points less worthy.
Reminds me of the 1920's: i guess next year you will need one trillion points to extend your account

Ha! Well at least I can convert now. Holding off till there's something I really want to DL. Another place I've been going often has Multiupload, which normally gives me 7 download options. I like that....

Great, I'm actually going to have to pay to extend my account for the first time in years... normally I earn enough points. I went and converted all my premium points to free before I noticed the new 5000 Premium + 5000 Free requirement to extend for 30 days.

Now I have 6541 Free and only 569 Premium points, with only two days to go on the account... no time to upload masses, so no chance I think!

would it be wise to have more than 1 premium account? I have more than 96k pp and 12k fp

Host the more popular (=more dld) stuff on collectors (because of the 60 days no download deletion limit), and less popular stuff on premium.

That's what I do.

Premium accounts I generate from collectors will be donated as soon as there are enough points accumulated.

Since points are pretty useless you can use some of yours and create another premium account (with under 50Gb, not affected by the 60 day inactivity rule) to store some rarely downloaded files. If it's about to expire,
create another one from your main account and move the files.

If your intention to have another account is to prevent that all your files are lost in case of an account deletetion by RS, have in mind that RS is monitoring your IP when loggin in. If you can't or don't change your IP both accounts would be closed (if it ever comes to this, see above)

Thanks for the replies guys.

My only concern is the ever increasing size of my files in the premium account. I have more than 250GB worth of files right now. I will try to upload more in the collector's account. I was able to upload files over 150MB the other day. I'm surprised the files I uploaded last year are still available.
