Why does "watching topic" stop working occasionall

I have a couple dozen or so topics that I have flagged to notify me when there is a new posting. Most of the time this works fine, but occasionally it seems to stop working. It happened to me last week, for several days I got no emails, and some of the topics I monitor are quite busy, so I knew something was wrong. My usual solution(?) to this is to find the topic, click on the "stop watching" link, then reactivate the "watch this topic" link.

Is there something else going on that I am not aware of?

Sometimes, depending on the fact that emails sent from the forum doesn't have a sender, your spamfilter will send them to spam.
