What is the big secret

Does access to the VIP section allow me to view anything special? I mean 300 posts are a lot and very time consuming. What do I get that I wouldn't get in the other sections?

Not sure what is in the vip section but presume it is just more stuff that may have been moved there due to people moaning and taking it off the main site.

One of the rules of having VIP access is that no one discusses what's in it outside of VIP. Just look at it this way. The access is just a treat for people who take the time to make this a better forum by sharing material they've collected. You really can't rush to get 300 posts, but if you post steadily, without putting up useless posts like a bunch of thank yous, you'll be surprised how fast you get to that magic number.
