Just an opinion...but 29 announcement and sticky threads? Is it perhaps time to consider cleaning up the first page a little? Surely some of those threads could be consolidated. I understand that those various threads come from different forums and only display together when using the Tape view. But since that is what a lot of members do, is there a way to adjust the settings so that only a selected few (like the Rules) are included at the top of the general FP Tape view?

It's hard to keep track of when the Rules are updated and when important new announcements get posted with all the noise at the top of the first page. Most days it is easier to just scroll down to the first regular thread than to bother carefully screening all those top threads for changes...

IMHO. Thanks for hearing me out. Cool

We are aware of the fact that the tapeview looks a bit messy.
However the way things are there aren't much we can do to clean it up.
We do make an overview from time to time to see if there are possible merges or obsolete topics.
For getting the attention when more important announcements are made we are advertising it in our signatures.
For example this week we updated the rules with some amendments.
We have therefore added to the sig a splash and it will be up for about one month.
It's not a consolation but the view for MOD and ADMIN are even messier (32 entrys) since we also have other sections not visible to the general member.

Fair enough. Thanks for the response. Cool

As you point out, I have no idea what the limitations of the board code are. I wonder whether it might be posssible to color thread titles as mods/admins? If so color-coding stickies/announcements by date of most recent posting/editing by a mod might be one easy way to highlight new changes of interest. Red for those threads with changes within the last 2 weeks, for example, and orange for those within the last month.

The new animated sig is very visible, but if there are several mod posts on any particular page, that will start to slow page loading dramatically and jack up RAM usage for some users.

Secret mod content. eh? Very Happy
