If you use Firefox try this usefull add-on to find active/dead links.

First install GREASEMONKEY add-on.

Code:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748

then install in GREASMONKEY this script.

Code:
http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/9467

Right clicked Greasemonkey, selected manage user scripts, clicked on Rapidshare Links Checker, clicked Add next to included pages, and put in https://*

Make sure Rapidshare Links Checker has a checkmark next to it when you right click Greasemonkey.

When you surf a forum for downloadlinks you get little green checkmarks next to the active files and links. If there is a blocked file you should get a little red X.

Works for Rapidshare and some other filehosts.

thanks online24 - I like it.

The Interclue extension is also useful

It displays small popup with the characteristics of a link when you hover the mouse on it - it's url, what it is, rar, zip, html etc and its size - Interclue does a lot more than that - but it's an Interclue feature I happen to use a lot.
