Sometimes when I click on a rapid share link, "I get a rapidshare window with random letters, symbols and numbers. the box will be filled with unreadable things. It will seem to happen on certain threads. If it happens in one thread it will happen with all links in that thread. I can then move to the next thread and the link will work fine.
Can someone please tell me what is wrong and how I can fix the problem

That really strange, i somehow have the feeling i've read that once, but i cannot remember where and what the solution was.

Maybe you can provide some more information:

- is it a direct RS-link or is there a link protector before
- do you download with a RS-premium account? If so, have you tried to activate "direct downloads" (via settings)
- can you maybe make a screenshot of this window (with numbers and codes) with an imagegrabber tool (zB "IrfanView" or if you have MS Office installed you can also try to print the page, then choose not your printer but "MS Office document image writer". This should create a tiff-image of the screen)

More general: If you say it only happens in some threads, does it always happen in the same thread (maybe post a link to the thread).

- are you logged in to fp?
- which browser do you use
- do you have some addons installed (that may interfere)
- have you tried to either reload the page, clear your browser cache, clear the cookies or all together and then accessed the page again

It sounds like a interesting problem anyway, let's see what we can do ...

My memory works since this is an old familiar "problem".
Has something to do with how the uploader have set the terms for download.

Quite simple to fix.
When you have clicked the link and the new window with the jibberish text opens, check the url showned in the browser.
It will look something like this h t t p ://r12d34.rapidshare.com/files/27573454/P_T.rar
Remove r12d34. from the url and hit return.
Now it works.

Thank you for the reply - yes it is a direct rapidshare link not a protected link.
yes it is a premium account. yes it is a direct download setting and it also does it with the non direct download settings.
I will try do do as you ask about an imagegrab.
yes I am logged into fp
I am using internet explorer browser
I do not have any addons
And yes I have tried to clear the browser cache.
Again thank you fro the reply I will meanwhile try to do the other things you asked.

And if my memory would be as good as svinto's i wouldn't have to bother you with my questions Wink

Let's file this under "the fixed RS-server problem".
The background is, when clicking a normal RS-link your system decides (according to your RS-settings) from which RS-server (the number before "rapidshare") the file is downloaded to your pc.
In your case this means that the poster has not copied the link from his RS-account, but copied the temporary link while he was downloading the file (so it may not be his link). Such a link can work (if you are in the same area and have the same ISP) but mostly it does not.

If you by chance remember the thread where you found the links, let us know so we can modify the links to the proper way.
