I've been a silent member of the forum for some time now. I know it's a no-no to be a lurker, so I wish to begin contributing by offering a small application I developed that I find to be of great use when viewing media files (Pictures and Videos).
This program's goal is basically to recursively scan a directory of your choosing, and display in random order all media files found there. This allows for a better enjoyment of large media files collection, in a way that I couldn't achieve with software solutions I've used so far.
I spent some time modifying it to be configurable and usable by anyone, and added some features that I hope will further enhance your enjoyment of your media collection. These features include-
*Viewing media files in external viewers
*Filtering media files according to file type and user-defined categories
*Marking media files as favorites and displaying only favorite files
Detailed explanations can be found in the application's readme file.
I've tested this application on my computer alone, so it's very likely that some of you will encounter problems. I'm willing to solve these problems and am willing to accept feature requests, so please feel free to post them on this topic.
I realize that downloading an executable from an unknown member is risky. I don't know how to offer guarantees that this application doesn't intend to harm your computer in any way, other than giving my word and suggesting that a trusted member run this on a disposable or virtual environment to make sure that it's safe. SlideShower2 uses the VLC engine to display videos internally, and that's what the DLLs are there for.
I hope others will find this program as useful as I find it.
P.S I know the interface is ugly. I'm a developer, not a designer. Sorry!
