Why the move to VIP

Why do threads get moved to VIP? When they have been in non-vip sections for a long time?

There are different reasons why threads are moved (and not all are in VIP. Sometimes they were moved to the mods section because of problems with the stuff/content/style of posting there and to review it by all mods).

One reason why threads vanish in VIP, is because of google and rs link reporter.
If a thread is the target of some white knights, who report links to rs and get them deleted, the thread will be moved to VIP (safe heaven). Normally these white knights aren't VIP members, therefore they have no access to it anymore.

Same if the thread starter asks for moving it to VIP.

And there are other (untold) reasons as well.
