Ah, football season! There's nothing like it! I had two drafts this week, and I hope I'm looking good. Anyone else have a team or two? How'd your draft go?

I could use some trade advice if we have any old pros around.

Post your teams and I'll analyze.
What type of scoring have your leagues adopted?
How many teams per league?

I am no expert - hardly - have missed the playoffs the past 3 seasons.
The league I am in has 12 teams and uses IDP's (Individual Defensive Players).

Team 1 : 8 team League, head-to-head scoring, no IDPs, Pass TD = 4pts, all other TD = 6pts.

QB: Matt Ryan
RB: Chris Johnson
RB: Thomas Jones
RB/WR: Marques Colston
WR: Larry Fitzgerald
WR: Anquan Boldin
TE: Dallas Clark
DEF: NY Jets
K: Jason Elam

Bench:
Pierre Thomas, RB
Jamal Lewis, RB
Jerricho Cotchery, WR
Donald Brown, RB
Matt Cassel, QB
LeSean McCoy, RB
Tim Hightower, RB

The more I look at my lineup, the more disappointed I am with my draft here. Last year, the twin killer WRs from Arizona won me the league championship, but I'm not loving my RB corp, despite how many of them I have.

One of my opponents has been sniffing around for Boldin (he offered me Donovan McNabb originally, I know he can do better than that.) I may be able to get Steve Slaton out of him. But them I'm very thin at WR...

Team 2: 10 Team League, same rules as above

QB: Aaron Rodgers
RB: Matt Forte
RB: Ryan Grant
RB/WR: LenDale White
WR: Calvin Johnson
WR: Greg Jennings
TE: Antonio Gates
DEF: NY Jets
K: Neil Rackers

Bench:
Carson Palmer, QB
Darren Sproles, RB
Anthony Gonzalez, WR
Laveraneus Coles, WR
Chester Taylor, RB
Tony Scheffler, TE
Sidney Rice, WR

I have someone in this league who really wants Jennings, and is willing to offer either Slaton or Marion Barber in exchange. Do I pull the trigger and hope that Gonzalez becomes one of Manning's favorite targets this year?

Thanks for any and all input...

ludedewd, you're going to win it all this year, I can feel it. Cool

Just having a quick look I'd say you're pretty stacked. No need to even think about McNabb with those two QB's you have. I imagine once Cassel is healthy he'll begin to put up more points consistently. Boldin is a monster and I bet you drafted him in the 3rd round, maybe 4th? he's gonna put up big points so anything less than Slaton and a late round WR would be the minimum I'd even consider. Backs are going to get hurt so it's always good to stockpile them and you've got guys that can step in and give you consistent points every week.
The one thing I would do is try to upgrade your Defense, I'm not sure how good the NYJ are going to be but I don't think they'll be in the top 8 - you can probably do better.

In your second league you don't have as many backs but you're deep at WR. From what I've read Gonzo should be much improved this year and Coles (I predict) will be better than the primadonna 85 - what a jackass. You'd think after the steaming pile he put up last year would shut him up...
If you can get Slaton or Barber out of him for Jennings I think that's an upgrade. Slide one of the aforementioned guys into the WR slot and bump White down to the bench - hell, I'd use him only during a bye week.

Last thing - always scan the waiver & news wires (I'm sure you do). I'm not sure if you saw the game tonight but it seems that Kenny Britt might be the home run hitter for Tennessee; he got several balls thrown his way and could be a good pick up down the road.

Good luck mate, looks pretty good to me. Smile

Thanks, man, I appreciate the analysis. Neither of my Tennessee boys did much of anything on Thursday, but it was an entertaining game, to be sure. Collins seemed to like Britt and Gage both, it will be interesting to see what kind of chemistry develops when they're not facing the Pittsburgh defense.

Well, I offered Boldin for Slaton and Lee Evans, and he countered with Boldin/Thomas Jones for Slaton/Evans, which is, of course, counter-productive to what I'm trying to do. So its back to the negotiating table there.

By the way, the J-E-T-S are the one sentimentality I allowed myself this year. We'll see how my loyalty is rewarded...Rolling Eyes

Agent, are you saying you are in a TD only league (no points for yards)? If so you might want to reconsider the Slaton trade, looks like Houston is going to use Chris Brown as their goal line back. That could really hurt his value. My league is PPR and Slaton is very valuable.

I do get the standard point-per-10 yards (rush & rec.), but I don't get points per reception. I think I still want Slaton, though, especially with Pierre Thomas hobbling around on one leg.

What do you guys think of Kevin Smith in Detroit? The guy I'm in negotiations with has him on his bench...

Well, after the J E T S Jets, Jets, Jets performance on D against what was considered a pretty lethal offense - and on the road - you should probably not listen to me as I don't know what the hell I'm talking about! Laughing

No rest for the wicked, you've got Brady & Co this week. Brady is my QB so I'm hoping your lads don't duplicate their efforts of yesterday (no offense) Wink

Oh, almost forgot - Smith had 15 carries and caught 7 balls so he's getting a lot of looks. But, I think when Thomas is healthy he will outscore Smith just because NOLA's offense is awesome and Detroit is going to struggle. If you can get by for a couple of weeks until he's healthy you should be fine. Plus, Johnson & Jones are better than Smith already.

Yeah, as high as any of us might be on Schaub/Johnson/Slaton, they are no Brady/Moss/Belichik. If the Pats show up for the whole game, instead of just the last two minutes, this game could get ugly for my D. I'll look for a better matchup, I think...

Here is my thinking RE: Kevin Smith. With a rookie QB at the helm, there should be lots of safe dumps to the RB out of the backfield when Megatron isn't open. He's also all alone as #1 on the depth chart, so he's got guaranteed touches every week. Mike Bell impressed his coaching staff, so even when Thomas gets healthy, we're looking at a 3-way time split now? Ick. Hard to plan around that.

Plus, there are certain injuries for every position that just give me the heebie-jeebies. Lucky me, this year I get two of them: a knee injury on my RB, and a hamstring problem for my receiver. (I know Boldin is tough as nails and can play with half a face, but hammys are a different story. They can nag all season long.)

Anyway, all that aside, I won both games this week! Championship, here I come! lol

How'd your week go, lewdewd?

How'd my w/e go...
Well, I'll tell ya.
I check yahoo's (our league) notes prior to the early game kickoffs and there's no real news on any of my players. Anyone who had injuries practiced Friday and was expected to play.
Oh, there was news on Brady that he knocked up his supermodel wife - which, of course is dire information when considering lineups Rolling Eyes
I mean, it's important to know that some guy is legally fucking his own wife, right? Scandalous for sure...
I'm playing a guy who has been in the top 3 in scoring the last 3 seasons (12 team league), so it's going to be tough to beat him already and then I see that one of my WR's is inactive AFTER the game starts.
My bench guys all scored 9+ points and I lost by 8.
Nice to see yahoo get me the vital info I need so I can field a full squad.

Yikes, man. That's pretty damn frustrating. Do you watch Fantasy Football Live on Yahoo Sunday mornings? I've always found it to be quite useful...but then again, they've never missed one of my receivers being inactive, either. I image if they did that would be the last time I watched!

Good luck this week, ludedewd!

Nope, haven't seen it; maybe that's why I'm 0-2! lol
Check this out - I must really suck at drafting...
1st WR drafted - Braylon Edwards
2nd WR - Santana Moss

I took Steve Smith of the Giants in the 14th or 15th round and he got me more points Sunday night (I expected a monster game from him), than both of those clowns put together!

Matt Forte was a sweet start against the Steelers...
But the shocker of them all was Brady getting me half a point vs your Jets. Wow, that D line gets to the QB in a hurry. Congrats on the upset. Although it's early, nice call by Tannenbaum on hiring the Rexster.

I've got Leon Washington as well. We get points for return yards so he's a guaranteed starter every week (plus the extra touches year over year helps). Just hope your D gives up some points so he has a chance to return! Razz
