HowTo: Saving flv-streams to your hdd

Normally my firefox-addin "DownloadHelper" does a good job to save most of the embedded flv-streams around. But i came to some sites that uses the rtmp-streaming protocol and first i couldn't download them.
That was too bad cause these sites don't offer a download only online-watching.
So i figured out that "flv-recorder" can catch these streams and save it to your hdd.

Use "flv-recorder" to save the streams, start the recording before you play the video. While recording you see that "flv-recorder" is catching it, if you don't see a message, just change to the browser that contains the vid and reload the site. If the video is over, flv-recorder should show a green checkmark, then stop the recording process. The video should now be in your choosen directory ("settings"). Compare the size with the size given in flv-recorder. Sometimes it differs (have no clue why), then a second record is necessary.
If the size is ok and it won't play properly, use "MediaCoder"

to rewrite the flv-data and it will work.
With this software you can even change the container from *flv to *avi. The resulting file is a bit bigger (about 7%) but then you can edit it with VirtualDub.
