because they are now coming from "UnknownSender@UnknownDomain"

Is anybody else experiencing this? For me, this is almost like not getting them at all, because I have to "look" for them and if I have to do that I could just as well "look" for new posts in "view your posts".
Regular emails to me generate an audio cue and the spam ones do not. Crying or Very sad

I'll bet if I get a private message, the email notification for that will end up in my spam box too. This can be a problem as I always try to respond to PM's ASAP.

I've tried "telling" my email to let "UnknownSender@UnknownDomain" come through, but no luck...

Edit: I've solved the problem for now by "relaxing" my spam filter to a lower setting. I've enjoyed keeping it on its maximum setting in the past, it really helped with spam. Idea

Okay, so as of today, I'm getting no email notifications whatsoever, not even to my spam box. Anybody else getting/not getting email notifications??

Too weird, after my last post I got a few "late" email notifications and NOW, I'm getting repeat ones even though I have not visited said threads. Shocked

Sounds to me like you're using Yahoo mail.
Some days they make me sing anything but yahoo. Laughing

I don't get many messages, just a couple of Private Message notifications every now and then, and they did change recently, last week I think, showing up as coming from "unknown".

Hotmail didn't put it in my spam folder, but it did block out the entire message until I clicked on an extra link saying I thought it was safe to open it.

I don't think I've had more than a half dozen notifications since I joined two and a half years ago.

I'm using AOL for email not Yahoo...

I'm getting them now on a regular basis again now that I re-configured my filters to deal with this new "UnknownSender@UnknownDomain" as the originating address. Just once there was a hiccup where I'm certain that they came late.

buckethead, sounds like your user profile default is set to "not subscribe" to threads you post in/start. Maybe you don't even have it set to email you when you get a PM... Shocked OR, maybe they all go in your spam box or you switched emails or...well now I know why you never responded to my post in that spitting videos thread you started. lol

I like how this forums threads have the links right at the bottoms to either subscribe or unsubscribe, very handy.

The main question is, WHY are the reply notifications coming from a new email address? Has there been a change to the forum's host or server?

Personally, this makes me a little more than uncomfortable, especially with GS being off the radar for so long!!

It’s also strange that no Mods have replied to this thread with any kind of explanation?

I'm using Hotmail. Over the last couple of days all my email notifications from Forumophilia have been sent directly to my junk folder, even though I already have my junk e-mail filter set to the lowest level. That's not how I want it, I want them to be sent to my inbox. In order to fix that, I had to create custom filters.

Here's a guide for Hotmail users on how to create custom filters.

1. In the upper-right corner of the page, click “Options,” and then click “More options.”

2. Under Customize your mail, click “Automatically sort e-mail into folders.”

3. Click “New filter.”

4. Follow the on-screen instructions to specify which you want to filter, where you want to filter them, and then click “Save.”

The problem with emails from Forumophilia is that they show up with an unknown sender. As there is no option to create a custom filter that would look out for the message content, and with the sender unknown, the only thing left we can filter is the subject. I think most people want to be notified when they receive a PM or when their favorite topics get bumped. This is what the subject looks like in those cases:

New Private Message has arrived
Topic Reply Notification - [name of the topic]

In picture four you can see what options we have to work with. I've chosen to pick one word from each subject - Private and Notification - and let the filters automatically put those messages in my inbox.

If I could reach down the Internet and give Humlan a big kiss for his help, I would.
