I'm using
Hotmail. Over the last couple of days all my email notifications from Forumophilia have been sent directly to my junk folder, even though I already have my junk e-mail filter set to the lowest level. That's not how I want it, I want them to be sent to my inbox. In order to fix that, I had to create custom filters.
Here's a guide for Hotmail users on how to create custom filters.
1. In the upper-right corner of the page, click “Options,” and then click “More options.”
2. Under Customize your mail, click “Automatically sort e-mail into folders.”
3. Click “New filter.”
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to specify which you want to filter, where you want to filter them, and then click “Save.”
The problem with emails from Forumophilia is that they show up with an unknown sender. As there is no option to create a custom filter that would look out for the message content, and with the sender unknown, the only thing left we can filter is the subject. I think most people want to be notified when they receive a PM or when their favorite topics get bumped. This is what the subject looks like in those cases:
New Private Message has arrived
Topic Reply Notification - [name of the topic]
In picture four you can see what options we have to work with. I've chosen to pick one word from each subject - Private and Notification - and let the filters automatically put those messages in my inbox.
